DSDPlus Problem with update

Hi all

Bit of a strange one to be honest, not sure if it's a DSD+ problem or a strange filesystem problem my end.

I just copied my Fastlane install from my backup after reinstalling my laptop and got the update notification after running the DSDPlus.exe which i accepted the download. I located my old email with my zip password to copy and paste into the request when unzipping with 7zip as always but I keep getting "wrong password". I've tried with different machines, unzipping programs and even tried old update archives that unzipped in the past with the same result! I'm totally perplexed as to what is going on, any advice?

If you have been using the program for a while, I recall that older versions may have had a common password but when they went to a download vs emailed zipped files, there was an email sent with a different password. That would have been around 12/21/2019. For me, that email contains the one that still works.

That would have been around 12/21/2019. For me, that email contains the one that still works.
I've been using my unique password from 2018, it has worked on previous updates no problem but doesn't even work on those now!

What @cg is saying, they (dsdplus) sent out an email about how it would work moving forward when they changed how updates were being done. Look in the email you registered with and look at all emails from that time frame.

I never received any other email than the one attached, and nothing from the usual email address since December 2018. I never delete my emails and have checked around that time.

Edit: The app is registered to my wifes email address (due to paypal) but we added a note to send all updates to my own address which did happen, she has checked her emails and she has not received anything either. Can the author help me obtain my new password? The website says this is the best place to get help so i haven't tried emailing them?

Not sure what your search criteria was when you searched your email but they have mailed from two accounts. The former is what they responded to me from this past July

You could email them and reference the registered email and they should be able to get you going.

Were you a lifetime member or paid for 1 year? Asking because the old way, pretty sure for every update we were issued a different password. Then when DSDPlus 2.228 came out, pretty sure it was said the password in that email would remain the same password moving forward. I know I used the password from DSDPlus 2.228 on every update, up to the current release, which is DSDPlus 2.395.

I'm in the same situation, I bought a lifetime subscription for $25 back in 2020 and recently wanted to update the program but is says update failed. I sent two different emails on both email addresses with proof of purchase but did not get an answer.

I was just able to solve my problem a moment ago by downloading the latest update through the original download link, just changed DSDPlus2p235.zip to DSDPlus2p395.zip in the link and hit enter.

But even with latest version it still says update failed.

Being that DSDPlus does not go thru an install process like regular PC software does, nor do its updates, where did you see it say Update Failed?

I’m assuming you’re seeing the update check failed in the window when launching DSDPlus,? I just checked mine and it days I am running the latest version. Obvious question but do you have internet on the machine and any firewalls blocking the update server? My firewall blocked the update server initially

I tried connecting to the internet through my phone's hotspot and checking for the update again, and had the same results, Update check failed.

My internet is working, i'm not connected through a VPN, Firewall is disabled and I'm able to access the official website at www.dsdplus.com and ping the server address 209.240.30.50 without issues.

I also have the version 2.395 but that has not been updated in a couple of years. Is anyone actually looking after this software? Nothing since COVID hit.

It was updated July 2022, just over a year ago, there hasn't been anything new and exciting that needs an update. The newest thing is decode of TDMA control channels (most notable on Duke Energy's new P25 Phase 2 system being rolled out) and it decodes that just fine, unlike scanners that have been updated since.
