1.03.06 Sub (7/11/2024)

  • Increased audio level in Waterfall AM mode. Nothing else has been changed.
I've download the latest Firmware a few weeks ago. Since, my SDS200 is acting crazy. I'm monitoring Somerset County Trunking system in New Jersey.

The SDS200 was operating flawlessly before this new firmware was installed. Now, some channels have high volume and some have low distorted reception.

Has anyone else experience these problems with the latest firmware?

Thank you,
David

I noticed a lot of distortion since installing this update. If possible, I would roll back this update. Hopefully Uniden will come up with a fix soon.

The systems I monitor with my SDS200 are P25 1 and 2. I use a BCD996P2 to monitor conventional systems as it always seemed to do a better job than the SDS200. The SDS200 had such beautiful digital clarity prior to this firmware update. But now, not so much.

Okay, I was just curious. I monitor the "N.S.R.S" (Nevada shared radio system), and the system is very elaborate. It's a harris system for the whole state, They utilize both the conventional and sometimes patch various police agencies to their P25 ll with the exception of Reno P.D. Which are constantly on the P25 ll . Having said that, I thought it may be a work in progress on the "N.S.R.S." in regards to the distortion and volume issues. They have been working on the "N.S.R.S" For many approximately 5 years I think, thus I thought it may be a work and progress being that they are eventually going to migrate all agencies to the P25 ll.

Are you using a SDS200 or SDS100 and if so, have you done the firmware update? If so, did you notice any decrease in voice quality?

I am monitoring with the SDS100, yes I have updated the firmware.
I can't honestly say yes or no to the volume level, or quality or distortion. Reason being is I just acquired the SDS100 I also have theBCD436HP.

Ok, I'll try that out, for research purposes of course 😉
Thanks eaf !
Just a note, you might want to search these forums and read about others and their lack of success in attempting to do a roll back. I didn’t find anyone who had been successful with doing this with the SDS series. If you do and are successful, please let me know the steps you took. Thanks!

When Upman was still alive we would get BETA FIRMWARE and was always trying it and going back to a known working version very often.
You just have to follow the instructions Upman listed in the BCDx36 and SDSx00 FIRMWARE post.

I just finished doing the SDS200 firmware rollback procedure to SUB: Version 1.03.05. Worked perfectly, and the sound quality is much improved. The link to download the firmware file is: https://info.uniden.com/twiki/bin/view/UnidenMan4/SDS200FirmwareUpdate

The file downloads are at the bottom of the page as zip files. The zip file contains two files, the firmware file and a read.me file. The read.me file contains good information as to how to perform the installation and is essential reading. After copying the file to the appropriate folder, I de-mounted the scanner drive and then unplugged the usb cord. The scanner automatically began the installation process, then rebooted itself. Thanks buddrousa for your help!
