Not sure if I am in the correct area. I accidently erased the Sentinel app. Tried to reinstall and got this error message.
“The installation was interrupted before BCDx36 HP Sentinel could be installed. You need to restart the installer to try again.”
Before getting to this point I get a message showing where the files will be. I have changed the location and still want install.

Not for this software, but many years ago I ran into problems with other software and think it was because I changed the location of where it wanted to store files. Since then I always let software go where it wants to go.

I had that issue also. I spent hours trying to reinstall Sentinel. Updated everything recommended. Sentinel would not reinstall. Finally I just restored the program from my backup drive and it worked fine. I don't know what file is hidden that prevents reinstalling. I even cleaned the registry of every instance referring to Sentinel or Uniden and the program would not reinstall. Only backup restore worked.

Trying to install Sentinel and it wants to install netframe, fine it installs but sentinel never gets past that point and keeps asking to install netframe when it is already installed. Tried to install on two difference LT. BCDx36HP_Sentinel_Version_2_05_03

Sentinel is looking for .NET 2.0 specifically.

To install .NET 2.0....

In the Windows search bar, type "Windows features" and click on "turn Windows features on or off"

Once that window populates, look at the checkbox next to ".NET Framework 3.5 (Includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0)” (usually on the top line of that window). If that box is not checked, be sure to check it. Then click OK. Let the process finish (may take a few minutes), then reboot the computer and try installing Sentinel again. If your computer has Windows 11 running in S mode, you will need to disable that first.

Some new Win11 installs have an issue with turning on .NET3.5, the solution is making sure you make sure Win11 is up to date.
A later update and then a reboot will fix the problem.

"Program aborted: user not installed"

Sorry, hadda do it..... 🙃

Anyhoo, the .NET Framework issue is an old, very weird FAQ that, despite how easy it is to do, confuses the heck out of many who have unlucky chance to run into this!

1: Installing .NET Framework 2.0 is easy - jus type "Windows Features" in the search window, let it load, and click ".NET Framework 3.0/3.5 (includes 2.0)" or some variation of that specific version, as such. Let it install and update as necessary.

2: Specific versions of .NET Framework are independent of each other, not backward compatible, and you can have multiple versions installed , if you want/need. They will not conflict!

3: To reiterate, .NET Framework 8.0 won't run .NET Framework 2.0 software, so you need to install .NET Framework 2.0. Fortunately, the needed software is preinstalled, just needs to be activated in "Windows Features". Sentinel's installer doesn't make this clear. Sounds counter-intuitive, but it remains compatible to a variety of Windows versions and installations. And yes, it's available even in Windows 11. I don't think it'll disappear anytime soon, and if it does, from the Windows Features setup, I'm sure someone will set up a backwards-compatible installation method, somehow.

4: Yes, it is a Sentinel FAQ! With emphasis on the "Frequently"! 😁
