Ok back to square one, I deleted my systems and was going to start over. I tried to download the conventional channels and their was a critical error.. I get the p25 side of it picks up only digital, that's why I'm getting the silence because the analog aren't programed in and their must be plenty of analog channels. So now when I download the conventional channels their is the trucked system in their, is that whats causing the error, since they are digital? I think I need someone to walk me through this, the guy I was talking to sent a PDF, I suppose he doesn't have free scan and can't send it that way.

I sent you both a FreeSCAN file, as well as a PDF "printout" of what was in the FreeSCAN file.
I have resent the FreeSCAN file, zipped, in case the first one was deleted or damaged by the email servers along the way.
Got it programed in manually took most of the day but I have plenty of traffic. I just didn't have the conventional side programed in. So Steve, does the file look correct that I sent you?

Loud and clear audio
Here is my current configuration, I used Steves PDF file and programed it manually. When he sent the zip file I installed that and it was right back to the almost none existing audio, because it was breaking up so bad. I thought I'd modifie the colors and the name display, of my original manual download, It didn't do as well and the audio was breaking up, just about as bad as Steves. I only listened for a few minutes, so I may not have given it enough time, When you here something you like you go with that. I'll wind up putting both back into the scanner, to listen longer, but I just want to listen to this for a while, since it sounds so good.

Just out of curiosity, what are your P25 Adjust Mode and P25 Adjust Level settings?
Also do you notice any difference with site attenuation off?

Ok my p25 settings are set at 5 and 110. I left the 11 setting alone and adjusted up to the 200 so 110 and 130 were the best so I left it at 110 and adjuster from I think the 1-15 setting and it sounded better at 5. I did try the antenuataion off and my traffic went off also. Steve instructed me to get a yagi, so I have one on the way, hope that solves the issue.

Got the antenna up yesterday and its still working about the same. I just got a home patrol last night so that's on the way and I'm taking offers for this one. I'll do $275 plus shipping. It does pick up the local police and fire dept. just not the digital channels to well. I think with the other scanner at R & L you could hear the scramble, where as with this one, its just silent, and don't get me wrong it works great, I went to the tower and it was terrific. I'm 20 to 25 miles away so I think that has a lot to do with it. The home patrol is a lot newer technology so They should have those bugs worked out of it, so I'm thinking it should work great, if it doesn't that will be for sale to. I just wouldn't be able to have a scanner here, or I could put that antenna up about 50 ft.
The home patrol is no better. I guess that why they say location, location, location. The home patrol works a little better, but it also has 4 or 5 more counties programed in and lots of other stuff. I'm going to try to program the 396 with all the counties, the home patrol has and see if I can tweek it. You can't do anything with these home patrols. Just pop in the zip and if you don't want the freq. then you just lock it out. It's a lot easier and simplier but who doesn't like to tweek things. I like the 396 better than the home patrol, I just wish I was in the right location
