i have a 245xlt and i know the freqs. in my area, control is 854.8625, and the talk ones are 855.8625 , 856.187.5 , 856.4375 , 856.6875. so if i put all 5 of these in bank 10 in this order and select edacs, and hit trunk ? cause i still get the dam 5 beeps after each transmission. even witht the trunk button on..... hope you understand what i juat explained

if those were your freqs. how would you go about programming in bank 10 ?

I have the scanner set on edacs , and blanking channels ?? can there be L/O channnels or blanks in the same bank mine being 10 ?

thanks for your help

The general rule with the AEP EDACS in my area that I listen to the lower freq starts with channel one and on up. I lock out all other channels myself ( no other conventional s either ) but I don't have a BC 245 so maybe someone using a 245 can help. I do use a Uniden built scanner that I do that with and have no problems. Of course being you are hearing the beeps it is not trunking as you figured that out.

Make sure you programmed the channels in TRUNKED mode in the
correct LCN order. For example, LCN 1 frequency should be in the "1"
position for that bank (channel 271 I think); repeat for all other LCNs,
skipping any channels if any LCNs are skipped.

" skipping any channels if any LCNs are skipped "
can you explain that a bit for me ? so if i enter 855.8625 in channel 271, should i add 856.187.5 in channel 272 or a couple further down, and if yes which ones ?

also shouldn't the control or data channel be entered first in 271 ?

Yup Dave is bang on. The frequencies you list for Fleetnet in your area confuses me. One is that the frequencies you list don't match any of the 7 simulcast systems for Sasktel Fleetnet in the database (well simulcast 4 sorta comes close). Secondly is that you only list 5 talk frequencies for that Simulcast. There has to be more.

Now Sasktel could have changed the paramaters of your Simulcast, meaning the database is just out of date. If you do find that those frequencies you listed is all there is, and they are correct, it is just the matter of putting them in the correct LCN order (while programming an EDACS wide TRS).

Running Etrunker on this would solve this for sure. The next time I'm out that way, I'll try to remember my laptop.

Richster.

Your best bet is to refer to the database here. http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=RR&sid=3582

I'm sure these Simulasts are accurate. Check each one (except simulcast 1) to see what simulcat you are using. Once you determine which simulcast you are using, program it into your 245xlt accordingly.

Richster.

thanks for all your replies, and yes those are the correct freqs. I listen to whole conversations with my pro 43, using the manual button. i first had to find the freqs. and it was easy after that. these have been in this order for a year or more...

going to try figure out this lcn order thing....

Try this short cut but make sure you set the scanner to edacs instead of E2

Basic Programming of the BC-245

Initial set-up - pages 40 & 41
1 - Push and hold TRNK. It will beep twice.
2 - Enter the bank you want to program.
3 - Use the arrows to step through the system types. When it gets to EDACS, hit E.
4 - Enter a freq. (e.g. for 857.4625 enter 8-5-7-4-6-2). You don’t need to enter the decimal point or the last 5.
5 - Hit E, then MAN or the UP arrow to advance to the next position.
6 - Enter next freq., then next, etc.
7 - After the last freq. and E, hit SRCH. - page 41, paragraph 7.
8 - You will see it step through the freqs. and it will lock on the data channel. Then you will no longer see freqs., you will see Talk Groups. Each user is assigned one or more TGs. In a Motorola system, they are from 16 to 65536; normal TGs are spaced 32 numbers apart. (16, 48, 80 ... 12080, 12112, etc.).
At this point, the BANKS become SCAN LISTS (1 thru 0). Each Scan List can hold 100 TGs.
To enter TGs while in the SRCH mode. When it stops on a TG you want to store, hit HOLD and E. It will enter that TG into the next empty slot in a scan list.
If you know a TG number you want to enter, hit MAN, then step with the arrows to an empty slot and enter it. e.g. 7-5-7-2-E

SCANNING the SCAN LISTS
To change to SCAN LIST mode, hit SCAN. The banks then become SCAN LISTS. Each SCAN LIST holds 10 TGs, thus in each trunking bank you can monitor 100 TGs of your choice.
To go back to searching, hit SRCH.
This all sounds complicated, and it is. But after playing with it a while it will all fall into place.

Also. please try and put in the frequencies listed in my p96 file for your area. I think things may have changed since you were in the game.

Richster is going to know better than I if anything has changed frequency wise out your way. Experiment there and you will get it working soon enough. Once you do use the cable and that little backup utility to backup up your programming for the scanner.

Oh and another old link I found from abut 5 yrs ago.

http://home.earthlink.net/~dougfisher/scanner.html

I am trying to find that old list from the fellow that used to have a web page in Regina. He has a chart for the 7 SaskTel systems. Darned if I can find it though.

your p96 file is missing some of my freqs, 856.1875 for one, and 856.4375, and 865.6875 , it has 1 out of 4.

I am sure that Richster and others that live and scan in Saskatchewan will tell you that the sites for Sasktel listed here on this site and in that P96 file I made are correct.

Why not give this a try.
Program your 245 up with all 7 Sasktel sites starting in bank 1 channel 1 for site 1 then for site 2 in bank 2 and so on until you have all 7 sites programmed in the scanner using that list that I made in the p96 file. If channel spaces are blank then leave them blank in your scanner as well.

When you have all seven sites programmed in and make sure that they are set for ED. HIT search and see what happens.

If you have the programming cable download that little 245 backup utility and make a back up of it as a sbu. file.

Good luck.

Yes i have been reading that link by fisher, thanks.
Also I sure would appreaciate the list from Terry Keyowski in Regina was his name , he had the site Saskatchewan Scanner Site. And yes he did have a list for the 245xlt. Be sure nice if you found it.... :)

Ok i loaded all 7 sites into the 245, one site on one bank , so it took 7banks of course , i selected ED for each and left out the blank channels that were blank matching your p96 file. Now my pro 43 is running and picking up edacs on each of those freqs i listed : 855.8625 , 856.187.5 , 856.4375 , 856.6875 .
The 245 is in trunk and search and isn't picking up all the transmissions, it lights up when 855.8625 is hit and shows 10-032. but when the rest are used " nothing "

Whoa you can't do that, and here is why

Transmissions you might here on your Pro43 and not on your 245xlt (in trunked mode) are most likely I-calls. Individual calls are used a lot by Sask Power, and Department of Transportation just to name a couple. The 245xlt will not track I-calls. Listen to each frequency on your Pro43. After each comm (if there is one), you hear the GE-Jingle at the end (5-beeps), it is a Fleetnet frequency. Keep seaching the 851-868 Mhz for a couple of days just to make sure you have all of them. Then compare your frequencies to the ones in the database to see if you have a match. If not, then obviously Sasktel has made some system changes in your area.

Richster.

Yes i';m aware of the private calls on fleetnet, i have used fleetnet radios since they came out years ago. I work for the Gov.
the transmissions i'm hearing are all RCMP and i'm possitive they are group freqs. cause they cannot do private calls on there radios when there calling regina.
Also like i said i have been using these 4 freqs for over a year now and there all there.

Also keep a eye on what banks you are hearing nothing at all. I doubt if can pick up more than 1 or 2 of the 7 sites from where you live unless you are on the road a lot. You still have 3 other banks to program in some other system such as Saskatoon and Regina and maybe the last one for all Conventional frequencies, such as the RCMP conventional ones or whatever you fancy.

As I mentioned earlier once you have it finally programmed up as how you would like it I would make a few of those sbu. backup files for different settings.
