Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello all:

I am sorry if this question has been asked before, but I downloaded the CE 157 software and I'm trying to program my radios, however I am able to put in the receive and transmit frequencies, but I am not able to put in the squelch tone. That area seems to be grayed out and I cannot even click on it. Can anyone tell me if I'm doing the right thing, or how I can enter the squelch?

Thank you very much for any help you can give.

Right, but have you changed the channels in question to analog? Should be able to double-click the leading 'D' which should switch it to 'A' for analog.

I am so not having a good day with this radio. Today I try and open up the app and download from the radio and now I get a port open error. I have not changed a single thing since yesterday night.

highly considering just giving these radio in to be professionally programmed.

Thanks.... for some reason now I connect the radio to the port, and I try to configure it to that port, and now it won't even find the port to download from 😓 I really don't understand what's going on now. All I keep getting now is a port open error.

I'm sorry for all the questions.

I have tried so much, I've been acquainting myself with this software and have pretty much done all the correct steps, however when I upload to the radio, nothing is showing up. Can anyone give me any insight as to what I am doing wrong or leaving out? Thank you20220913_010833.jpg

And then when I download from the radio, the frequencies show the default that came with the software

Note that the terminology in most (all?) of the CE* software may be the reverse of what you might logically expect based on computer experience where uploading normally sends data away from the computer you are on and downloading receives data into it.

Using the CE* software:
  • "Upload" reads from the radio into the computer. Use the further left toolbar button with the arrow pointing into the computer as an easy way to remember this.
  • "Download" writes to the radio from the computer. Use the further right toolbar button with the arrow pointing away from the computer.

Thank you very much for this reply. I actually found this out this afternoon when I received my original Motorola cable. I hit upload and nothing happened and for some reason something told me to hit download and all of a sudden, my radio was programmed. Success.

You need to first highlight the channel number which is grayed out, then press the space bar, that will enable you to edit the channel.
The next column over is Digital/Analog. If it has a D, double click it.
