I am trying to program my newly acquired BC15X with Freescan and a programming cable from Scanner Master. No matter what I do I get the following error message: "Critical error, invalid response code or insufficient resources, aborting channel programming"
I have done the following:
Matched baud rates between scanner and Freescan. Changed baud rates. Selected proper com port. Updated USB>serial drivers. Changed software upload options. Run Freeswcan in XP compatibility mode since I am using Win 7 64 bit machine. Nothing seems to work. Help!!!!!!!

One key here is the message 'insufficient resources'. One way this can happen is not using the ERASE function before attempting to do new programming. Doing this several times can exhaust your available memory

I would wipe the scanner clean with ERASE first and see what happens...Mike

The cable you purchased from Scanner Master, is it the Uniden USB-1?
I run FreeScan on three Win7 computers without any problems. Is there a reason for XP?
Baud rate should be the highest allowed by the software for connection.
As posted by another person, you must check the Erase box before sending to the scanner. If you don't, you will have multiple uploads of the same, or newer programming. It will overload the scanner and not let it receive the latest programming.

Thanx for your help guys. Finally got it working. One of the issues I was having was the 20 grp limit for systems. Once I figured that out all went well. Still got a steep learning curve with BC DMA scanners since working with GRE stuff but I will get there.
