Hi guys,

I was able to listen to all the acts and most of Dobbin's comm. One thing I became clearly aware of is that I still have a lot to learn about programming the little beastie. Specifically the Federal TRS system they use. I was able to follow most of the comm there by just programming the found voice channels as a conventional set of freqs. But I never could get the trunking sys to fly.

After much reading in the Wiki and forum threads I realize it must be setup as a Moto 800/900 system with custom trunking tables. Since it's a 400 MHz system I'm guessing each channel must be specified in the tables based on the base freq (406.3 Mhz), Offset (380) and step of 12.5 khz. I looked at the tables (currently playing in PSREDIT) but I'm sure the others are the same. It also requests ChHi & ChLo. I kind of surmised, maybe way off base, that Ch 00 is 406.3 with offset to 380 and step at 12.5 khz. Maybe Ch 01 is 406.3125 and so on. Have no clue what Ch Hi is. There is where I get lost. Read the calc description but that didn't clear the cobwebs much. Any help would be very much appreciated.

No, Rick. It must be set-up as a VHF/UHF system with custom settings. I used my premium subscription and Win500 to import the system to the software, and then upload it to the scanner. It worked fantastic at the show on Sunday. Outstanding show! The Blue Angels were the best I've ever seen, and I'm going back a looooonnnng way:D Do yourself a favor and get the premium subscription and Win500. It will make the scanner a ton more fun.

Hi Larry,

That's what I thought too but came across several threads through the forum that said you set the system type to Mot 800/900 for Analog and APCO25 systems. Didn't matter anyway as I hadn't made hide nor tails out of the custom tables.

As to sofware I've used Win500 for most of the initial 106 programming. Played with it for a month. Decided to try PSREdit500. This package surprised me as it had all the Win500 capabilities except audio record, was more intuitive to use AND had a great Help facility built in. Something Win500 lacks. Anyway, certainly not to bad mouth Win500, it's a great package, With 30 years in the computer hardware and software industry, just found PSRedit easier for me.

As to Premium, that's in the cards eventually. Right now I have no problem entering the data into the software and then uploading. I'm doing that to more fully understand both the software and scanner as well as learn the various TRS systems. That said, if you could, I'd appreciate you looking at the setup that got downloaded to yours vis RR and which obviously works. I'm most interested in the custom tables setup since that's where mine appears to have dropped the ball. I have the 4 CCs (2 primaries and 2 alternates) in for Dobbins though I went through all the Freqs listed to insure there weren't any more active. Many were used as voice channels.

That's what I'm after. Any further help will be appreciated. Did get to see many of the BA's setups and maneuvers since they seemed to use my house as a staging point. Truely astounding flying.

Set TSYS to Mot VHF/UHF and enter CC's and ACC's then go down to T Tables and change from Default to Custom using right button.
Set table 01 to
Lo Chan 380
Hi Chan 759
Offset 380
Base 406.3000
Step 12.5.

Hi Frank,

Thanks for the response. Here's what the TSYS and Tables now look like. Know it's somewhat different from Win500 but does this look like what you suggested?

Thanks,

Rick

Yep, exactly as in my post (scanner menu doesn't have table 00). Using Win500 with Web Import will place it in table 00 but a single table can be placed in any of the 16 locations. Though if subsequent tables were required, table order is critical but Dobbins singe table can be in any location.
ARC500 uses 1-16 so 1 is used and PSREdit uses 00-15 with 00 used as in Win500. The latter two send it to scanner into table 01. Your setting may place the table in 02 location.

As Larry stated, Win500 is the way to go. ;) But the other two work very well.

Thanks Frank & Larry too. Big help!
It's easy to move the table to 00 so I'll do that before upload.

Makes much more sense now.

Update- Works great now.
Thanks again.

Larry, does Dobbins have a separate tower frequncy for mil flights? I have to believe they work strongly in conjuction with ATL but still should have different takeoff/landing freqs for their planes.
