The program now includes TWO Marine Ch. 84 entries, as downloaded from RR. One is obviously carrying traffic from a trunked, P25 LE system, and I haven't heard anything on the other. Here is what the entries look like in ProScan:

Ch. 84 Ship/shor 161.8250 None All Off False False FM False False False 0 Off Auto Off On
Ch. 84 Ship/shor 157.2250 None All Off False False FM False False False 0 Off Auto Off On

Can I just delete the top one, or do I need to reload the trunked system the 161.825 channel is part of... or leave it alone?

The frequency is different between the entries. Channel 84 isn't a single frequency, it's a pair of frequencies. One is ship to shore, the other is shore to ship. You are hearing traffic on both.

In inland areas, the freqs are often licensed to public safety agencies.

My marine portable has them listed as 84 and 84A.

Mystery solved

So it's legit. Apparently this is one of the locations where one channel is used by public safety. Thanks!

I occasionally get close call hits from a Virginia P25 system site that uses a marine frequency on at least one site.

And I live in Pennsylvania.
