It is a personal radio I want to leave in my truck. It is not affiliated. I will not be transmitting through pd obviously. What’s the difference between afflicted and non afflicted?
If you are unsure of what is affiliated and non-affiliated, I might suggest you have others work on your radios, rather than you working on them yourself. I don't mean this to be snarky, just that you should learn the basics of radio systems before you try and monitor them, especially in a complex environment.

So SCPD can see who is listening and if they are unauthorized or not. And if you are unauthorized they will just shut your radio down?

They can. It's their system. They authorize who's on it. If you're not authorized, you run the risk of them disabling your radio.

Suffolk will not program. Not even RX only.

Apparently there has been a large uptick in "cloned" or unauthorized radio's on the P25 system, SCPD is getting tired of the shenanigans, and has already been disabling a few radios that are known to be clones. SCPD is planning on rolling out LLA on the new P25 system in the next 3 to 5 years, should fix the problem permanently.

Does that mean it's agency involved or whackers with personal radios? I only wonder because there was an issue of agencies in my area, not here, were replacing radios, adding new equipment, selling old radios to other agencies etc on the same system, a bunch of cloned IDs causing havoc. They came from a conventional system they didn't understand this issue when they were "exchanging" trunking radios.
