Hello all,

I have a Uniden SDS200, and I’m trying to program some talk groups for trunked frequencies. I’m using radio reference database to find them, but under the talk groups, it’s a bit confusing. Under the “DEC” column, it says, for example, 0-01-100. Can you explain what that means, and how to locate the talk group (TGID) and LCN and stuff like that? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I’m using the Sentinel software to program this into my scanner.

You gotta trust Sentinel. Go to the Database and locate the system you are interested in monitoring. Highlight the system and right click, choose append to Favorites List. Either to a new FL or an existing one.

You can then edit the Favorites List, choose Location Control to On in the Options tab of the right pane. Be sure to correctly set your zip code.

Then allow the scanner to choose those sites and talkgroups that are within range of you.

Also, if you are like most of us, you'll probably make mistakes. No scanner was ever broken from bad programming. You just gain knowledge by having to figure out problems.

Yep, I learned that. I did mess it up, but I am learning. I always read from the scanner, and save my progress, just in case. I have learned that the hard way a few times.
