I am having issues with Pro Scan software and my SDS200 scanner. It worked fine when I first got it last year in December, but about a month ago it started disconnecting from my Network so I can control it from either of my P.C.'s. The person that wrote and owns the software is no help. He should know his software inside and out, but he refers me to this forum. I paid good money for that software and I always try to get support from the people that should know it the best.

I asked Uniden about it and they told me it is definitely a Pro Scan software issue. As long as I have the setting in my scanner right, which I do, it is not their issue.

I finally do get my scanner to connect again and appear in the Pro Scan software, but this should not be an ongoing fight.

Not only that, it says if you want the colors of the scanner screen duplicated in Pro Scan software that you need to direct the software to the profile file in the Sentinel Software. I did that and finally got some of the colors to duplicate, but some are not the same as on my scanner screen.

Does anyone know how to fix the issues?

At this point, I feel like I have wasted my money.

Wait a minute, I tried to help. In fact, I reached out to you on another issue and you brought this one up. I offered a few suggestions and you didn't respond to the suggestions but instead you brought up all kinds of other issues with my customer support.

My email
You may want to ask the folks on radioreference.com to see if anyone else is experiencing this and what they found to be a solution to the problem. You may get several replies with various experiences.

On the SDS200 display color not matching ProScan, I would go to the Sentinel and verify the current profile. In ProScan, select it. If it still doesn't match then the Sentinel current profile is out of sync with the scanner display colors and you either have to read or write to the scanner.

This image shows the current profile in Sentinel.

I don’t see why your scanner disconnecting from the network is a fault with ProScan.

I would replace cable from scanner to switch/router. Make sure scanner is set to a static IP, either on router or in scanner.
Thank you. I did all that. But interesting eough, it shows on my network when connected to Pro Scan.

Your SDS200 Sanner disconnecting is your NETWORK not PROSCAN I have 3 running 24/7 the only time they disconnect is when I reboot the PC for windows updates. We know Bob very well it is not his fault you will not listen and follow directions.
Sorry, you have to get instructions first in order to follow them. He never gave me any instructions except to come to this forum. I save all communications from support so I can prove he never helped me.

Thank you for your help. I did replace the ethernet cable, but I am constantly having to go into the software and reset the com port. I have an Eero routher and the scanner is set to a reserved IP address.

You were specifically asking how to automatically connect to the scanner when ProScan starts and I told you it's an automatic process so no instructions are needed. I also said that I didn't have any more suggestions and perhaps ask the folks on radioreference.com since I never seen this before.

{EDIT}
This was my email to you:
ProScan should automatically connect to the scanner every time when ProScan starts using either the comm. port or Ethernet.
I don't know what the instructions would contain as it's a automatic process.
I never seen this before so I'm guessing here. If the computer was power cycled then I would power cycle the scanner after the computer reboots.
If you have to have to select the URL and scanner IP address every time then for some reason the ProScan.cfg file (configuration) is not being saved.
You may want to ask the folks on radioreference.com to see if anyone else is experiencing this and what they found to be a solution to the problem. You may get several replies with various experiences.

Let's stay on issue.
Perhaps temporarily disable any anti-virus and firewall software and see if it work.
What do you mean by "reset the com port."? Is that in ProScan and is it the "Set" button or do you have to go into the URL Setup box?
For a test restart ProScan and see if it automatically connects. If not go into the URL Setup and see if any errors are shown.

My mistake, I first have hit the "Auto Detect" tab in your software and once I confirm the correct IP address is showing, I hit the "Set" tab. Many times, instead of it saying "URL" it shows a port #1 and I have to put it back to "URL." I want you to understand that when I first got the scanner and your software and I got it setup, I didn't need to do anything for months. This only started in the last month and all my Firewall settings are the same now as they were when I installed it. I do not use a third part virus software.

What is the lease-time on your router for the sds200?
I Googled it and it say DCHP lease time is 4 to 8 hours. I copied and pasted this statement. "Renewal: Devices automatically ask to renew their IP lease halfway through the timer."

My computers and many devices I have connected have never disconnected and they are on from 7 A.M. to 10 P.M. so the auto renewal must work right.

Is that the lease time you are referring too?

Yes. Are you able to change to a longer value or unlimited?

The router may well give the same IP address when lease runs out but I don’t think the ads200 has the error correction capabilities built in like most other devices do.

Just throwing out possibilities.

First time EVER I've seen this statement here. Myself and about 95% of others here would disagree with you. I'd say that Bob is probably THE most responsive developer here on the forums. And always quick to release fixes when issues are brought up to him. Proscan keeps getting better and better with every release

Is it still doing that? For a test, stop ProScan then go into the Comm Port menu and see if the Port shows 'URL'. Advise on your findings.
The Port setting 'URL' and all other option in ProScan should save to the config file (ProScan.cfg) every hour and when ProScan closes. The only time it may not save is if ProScan abnormally closes. I still don't know why it just started 'about a month ago'. No changes in ProScan in that area in years so I don't think it's a ProScan issue at this point in time.

{EDIT}
I just thought of this. Well it's the first time I heard from you regarding the URL setting is changing to port #1
The URL setting will change to a port # if changing the scanner type to a model that doesn't support a LAN connection (All scanners except the BCD536HP and SDS200). Are you using another instance of ProScan in the same folder?

{EDIT2}
or are you changing the scanner type to a non supported LAN type?

Unfortunately, no, that is one thing with the Eero router that they do not let you manually change.

No, I only have it installed once on my P.C.

I don't understand your secocnd question about a non supported LAN type?
