I have some questions about importing and editing frequencies with Proscan. If there is someone out there that has experience with Proscan, perhaps they can answer my questions.

I am a newbie with DMA scanners, and just got a 396XT, and I am trying different software packages, such as Proscan.

Say I am in Proscan, under the “Systems” tab and I have a group of 50 conventional frequencies in my 396XT and they have channel names of, for example, “Police 1”, “Police 2”, “Police 3”, etc., and then I decide I want to change the channel names to “Cop 1”, “Cop 2”, “Cop 3”, etc., what is the best way to do this?

I have tried sequentially editing each of the channel names, but after 10 channels, I find this too tedious, and time consuming.

Am I using the Proscan software correctly? Am I overlooking a function or a technique to make this easier? I read through the Proscan user manual, but found nothing that addresses this. This question was too basic to find an answer in the Radio Reference forums.

In regard to importing frequencies, I thought a solution to the above problem would be to import the frequencies with the channel names, from an Excel spreadsheet. When I used the “import” function, and grabbed the channel names and frequency columns from the Excel, I could only import the frequencies and not the channel names.

Is there a way of importing channel names and frequencies, into Proscan, from Excel?

Thanks for any help you can provide.
