Just noticed today the PSEG P25 system is using TG 299 for testing. "Teams" (1,2 etc) calling "Dispatch" and giving locations as 4 digit numbers (5313, 6101 etc) for radio checks. I am monitoring Site 001 Main Simulcast, as listed in the DB.

Could this be new talk groups for the PD at Willy P by chance? Or part of PSE&G themselves?

I think that's the Info Tech Ops talkgroup that was being tested on today. A slew of radios are being rolled out for testing and issuance I was told by my source. More testing to be conducted on Monday... ;)

And as a side note, the new system sounds GREAT! Very little, if any dropped calls and the quality of the P25 digital is crystal clear. Hope they keep up the great work...

Ok. Cool GM. Thanks.

Perhaps then, if WPU doesn’t get off completely, they’ll get TG’s on P25. If the coverage is good, it’s a plus for them!

Are you sure he programmed it correctly? @lovescanner

He programmed all the control channels? The TGIDS? Id search/scam? Stuff like that?

The nearest tower to Cherry Hill is in Moorestown. Depending on your location, you may or may not be able to hear it, as the tower the signal is being broadcast from is not that tall at all. That is most likely the reason why you have trouble hearing the analog TRS. Program your scanner to receive Site 1 Simulcast and see what the results are. I'm not all that familiar with the Cherry Hill area so I'm not sure how the coverage is currently.

My contact notified me recently that GSOC Operations (Generating Stations) will start using the P25 system any day now, and I noticed that there was some activity on it earlier today. This was on the Site 1 Simulcast. I also know there has been a lot of radio tech testing on it in the past two months, and the system sounds great on a Uniden BCD325P2! I hope the workers will feel the same way once they move off of the Motorola analog system.

Good news GM! Thanks for the info.

I hope to get a Phase 2 Scanner in the summer. Convenient for me, and those in the area they have a Site in West Milford. Hope to catch activity on it. When I can, hope to report in.

PSE&G P25 Switch Over

Well folks, another era has begun: PSE&G has made the switch officially to the P25 Network for full time usage. Update scanners, radios, notes, data slicers, Unitrunkers, etc., where applicable.

Drove to the campus today and was directly under the site.

The analog TRS appears to be 100% offline. No CC, no data, no bars, nothing.

Admins/Mods let’s mark the Analog System depreciated.

Edit: someone beat me to it.

It’s already marked deprecated. But I’ll add to the confirmation.

Anyone know what WPU is using now for communications? They were on the old smart net system but I don't see them in the database for the new system.

Also I don't see any sites listed in southern NJ. Perhaps they have not been identified yet? The old system had sites in West Deptford and Moorestown I believe.

We are currently using and Analog 900Mhz repeater channel for the time being. We are in the process of getting new radios and making the jump to the NJICS system in a few months. Will update all when I have all the proper talkgroups assigned to us and make that submission to the DB.

As for the Southern sites, they might all be part of the Main Simulcast system and not stand alone any more. Trying to get more info on the system build-out from the techs.

Southern NJ is covered by Site 1 Simulcast. I submitted the locations to the database in the Misc. System Notes section (which Watchung and Somerville can be added to that list as I left that out by mistake). I'm still waiting for Site 3 to come on line and find the location of that, along with finding out what site Washington (Morris County) is part of.
