ok so u are telling me in your county u use a 800mhz radio sysytem a u didnt put up any repeaters for 800mhz i tac channels. ok because I thought after sept. 11 2001 anyone putting a trunked radio system in was to have either the uhf vhf or 700/800mhz v tac channel in there system. man dated by home land security because here in eastern pa the 800 i tac as well as vhf ops channel are used. The following states and countys have 800 i tac usably they are the
And from what i have read they all dont have to be 800mhz the can be vhf uhf anyone of the i tac channels
the county should look into federal grants for the repeaters they are out there to get. ps they should have planned there system out better thats my 2 cents.
No federal requirement for folks that are not using NSPAC freqs on 800 to put up 800 MHz I-TAC/I-Call repeaters. . . .
And no DHS requirements to have the infrastructure in place. There is a DHS recommendation that radios purchased with DHS funds have the appropriate interop channels in it, but again if the channel is in the radio and there is no one to talk to (no infrastructure to a 911 center to hear the call for help) has this really accomplished anything?
Further, Our system was licensed in 1994 and operational 1Q-1995 before the NSPAC requirements for I-TAC/I-Call were in place and literally while the NSPAC rules for our region were being finalized. . . .
Thus our system was operational and licensed on business SMR 800 freqs classified for 800 public safety trunking (which was and still is permitted)
All county entities operate on this system.(Police/Fire/EMS/EMA/public works)
Neighboring users in other counties either operate on 33.70 or 155.295 or 155.010 or 453.525 (PEMA interop system running in western PA since 1987) or already have our system programmed into their existing 800 radios to communicate with the 911 center here for patching into the TRS. . . .
Only entity that doesn't use those freqs is PSP. . . . .
I don't have a need for the interop freqs to communicate on my TRS with the people I need to.
However, OPRS placed the UCALL/UTAC repeaters in to allow my county users to talk on the state system with the talk groups in PSP and a few other select user group radios. . . . .
UCALL/UTAC==453 mhz .. . . . .
Fayette County TRS users on 800 mhz==
Do you see my problem?
State wants their folks to be able to communicate with us and DO NOT and HAVE NOT coordinated their efforts with us to allow these communications to occur.
The problem with the current radios is to go from 800 MHz ON Network with Opensky to the bank that has the 800/700 interop channels takes about a minute and then to switch back takes about a minute and a half . . . .
When the officer needs help it is a cumbersome process to use IF the rest of the infrastructure was in place.
