I just picked up a PSR-500 on Friday. So I'm still playing with it, but so far its fantastic!

While the scanner stops on a talkgroup for a Motorola system the 4th line
of text in the display shows a 4 digit number that seems to change with each transmission.
Could this possibly be the Motorola channel number for the frequency in use?
I cannot seem to locate any documentation explaining it.

Thanks.

I believe what you are seeing is the object ID. Each talk group or conventional freq you add into hte scanner is numbered a particular object id. when it stops on one of the TGs when you are scanning, that should be what is shown at the bottom center of the display.

Scratch that. i'm wrong. If hit hit F2 underneath it, it just goes to the TSYS where you can select Analyze. I don't know what the hell that is :)

Alright Ill take over from here, after the steps Mike gave ya use the up/down keys on the multi directional button and it will show the tower as you scroll down/up. When you come to the CC it will give a signal analysis, Im just starting to play with the values in the advance settings. By setting the threashold it will set the rate of decode from that site and allow the signal thru to be scanned. Like I said I just started to mess with this a little and the big rains came and I had a Basement flood and havent had much time to play with the Threashold values. Good Scannin Hoser.........Hey Mark be expecting some more files in the Monix Web.

You have the Advanced GLOB option turned on to show the trunking channel number. If you want to turn that off you can as follows:

1) Press PGM
2) Press FUNC and then F3
3) Press FUNC and then the down arrow (This will get you to the bottom of the list)
4) Scroll up to the "Trunking Ch#" option and use the right arrow key to set that to off
5) Press the F1 key to save.

That was it. Thanks Mike (mikey60).

For All:

Just out of curiosity how many of us PSR-500 owners here are using that feature regularily?
I found it quite annoying.

I just turned it on this morning to try it out. Since the numbers didn't correspond to anything that I know, I turned it back off.

Of course, that could be a nice feature if you're in "the biz".

hehe, that's probably why it's in the Advanced GLOB settings area.. :)

They make sense to me on P25 systems, but that's only because I worked with them a lot on Pro96Com...
