Maybe I'm misunderstanding the object and v-scanner concept. I'm hoping someone can clarify.

I have about 12,000 conventional frequencies that I'd like to load in. As I understand it, the 500/600 series treat conventional freqs, talk groups and search ranges as independant objects.

The problem I'm having is lack of memory for (in this case) conventional frequency objects. The goal would be to have all 12,000 memories AVAILABLE for scan without having to load another v-scanner, which makes the previous 1800 inaccessible. In other words, I'd like to just punch in and out any of the the 20 scan lists without re-loading a v-scanner.

At only 1800 conventional freqs, I'm already out of memory.

I could create mixed batches of segmented 1800 memory groups into v-scanners, but only 1 v-scanner can be active at one time?

Hopefully, I'm overlooking something simple and there is a way of having more than 1800 objects available at one time?

Thanks for your help!

Best,
Mark

No at least not yet anyway.

The v-scanner function works great and is very easy to use. The biggest problem I have with the memory limitation is when programming large systems like Indiana Safe-T and running out of memory long, long before I run out of talk groups to put in.

I've got around that by setting up V-Scanners for sections of the state. Illinois is the same way I have a North Ill and a South Ill V-Scanner with a bit of overlap on the South one.

Anyway changing V-Scanners is quite simple and fast and I will program areas and just load the new V-Scanner as I move from one to the other. No fuss and do it while driving as well that's how easy it is.

Well I haven't looked recently but back when the announcement first came out I seem to recall the new 396XT was supposed to hold 25,000.

I may be wrong there but that's what I seem to remember from it.

your dreaming

No radio will hold 12000 freqs

BCD396XT memory specs:
Channels: 25000 max (40128 memory blocks)

I will move discussion of Uniden to that forum.

I appreciate you both taking time to reply.
