Until there is a better way, without the workaround, here are instructions on how to make things work for the PSR800.
1. Go to Start Menu
2. Hold down Shift key and press Restart under Power menu item.
3. Under Choose an Option .. select 'Troubleshoot'
4. Select 'Advanced Options'
5. Select 'Startup Settings'
Press Restart
Press 7 for Unsigned Drivers.
Once restarted .. login as normal.
6. Go To Device Manager in Control Panel
7. Select Ports (Com + LPT)
8. You should see .. USB Serial Device (ComX) when your PSR800 is connected.
You can now install the driver.
9. Right click on 'Update Driver Software' under that Com Port above.
10. Select "Browse My Computer for Driver Software"
At the bottom, select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
11. Highlight "GRECOM PSR-800 Serial Device"
12. Click Next
13. You will see "Windows cannot verify the publisher of this driver software"
14. Select "Install this driver software anyways"
15. Click Close
The driver will now be installed as "GRECOM PSR-800 Serial Device (ComX)"
You can now use your scanner.

For those of us upgrading from Windows 8 it is just a repeat of what we had to do to get it working before. For windows 7 users I can understand where this would be confusing as this is a situation you previously did not have to deal with. I upgraded this morning and can confirm that if you follow the instructions others have posted above everything works with no issues.

I updated my GRE-PSR 800 today. The library is 426. I used Windows 7,and had no problem.
This is not an issue in Windows 7, just potentially Windows 8, 8.1 and 10
It is also not a Whistler thing .. it is a Microsoft thing, and only cause they made a change in Windows 8.

I have done this so far to 3 Windows 10 computers to get the PSR800 working with EZScan. I am repeating some of what has been said already but here it is in one place. I hope this helps someone.
Computers.Windows 10 installation of unsigned driver for GRE PSR800
1-Copy .inf file from the PSR800 CD to a folder on your computer
2-When you are signed in to Windows 10 as Administrator connect the PSR 800. It will then attempt to load the driver and appear to succeed but the driver will not be working at that point.
3-Load the Start Menu by pressing Windows logo key
4-Select Power and hit restart while holding down the Shift key.
5-A selection of Troubleshooting options will come up, select the Troubleshoot option
6-Another page will appear, select Startup Settings.
7-The next page will display several repair options, Select the Startup Settings to change the behavior of Windows Startup and then click restart on the next page.
8- A menu with 9 selections will appear. Select #7 or F7 to disable Driver Signature enforcement.
9 Windows 10 will restart.
10-With the PSR 800 still connected open Device Manager from the Control Panel. Select the Com port assigned to the PSR 800 and Right Click and select Update Driver.
11-Select Browse my Computer for Driver.
12- Select Let me pick from a list of Drivers.
Highlight GRECom PSR800 Serial Driver.
Select have Disk.
Select Browse and point it at the .inf file.
Select OK,
Select Next
Windows will display an alert saying that the driver is not digitally signed. (Note on one computer it did not display the alert but installed it anyway.)
Select Install anyway.
13-Check to see if it is working by Starting EZScan and selecting Scanner SD Card and select to set the Real Time Clock to Computer time. If it does it successfully you are good to go.

When Microsoft said Win 10 would be free, this had to bring up the caution flag. Come to find out, Win 10 spies on everything you do. Even grabs your home/biz WiFi password.
I know there are ways to opt out of all this spying but my Win 7 ain't broke so no reason to fix it.

Holy Toledo that's some work around but thank you for all the hard work. That would probably take me a week to do. Not sure I'm going to upgrade now.

i tried using the file you provided and it said i need one for a 64 bit system. have you got one?
I am running Windows 10 64 bit version .. and I used that exact file with no problems.

I just started having an error code issue last night and now the scanner won't power up after reformatting a second card.
Is this simply a bad luck run of cards? Do they all of the sudden just stop working correctly while scanning, like mine did last night? Everything had been working fine with the win10 until now.
I'm inclined to think that my micro sd's just fizzled.

This is not an issue with the driver / file at all. It is as a result of a change that Microsoft did in Windows 8 on wards.
Even though people may complain about this to Whistler .. this is not really their issue.
All the file does is tells the system to use the default USB driver already installed in Windows.
Anything older is fine.
What is the error code number ?
The sd card issue is not Windows 10 related at all .. these things could fail, but it is very rare for that to happen. The only time I have had issues .. is when I physically dropped the card on the floor. It never worked again.
It's not rocket science, and I was able to follow the instructions and fix the problem easily, but you have to remember many people aren't as confident when it comes to anything beyond basic computer tasks. This whole thing could have been avoided by proper testing during the W10 beta stage and coordination between the manufacturer and MS. Not pointing fingers, but that coordination obviously didn't happen or didn't go well. There were months to work this sort of thing out, and it just didn't happen. It's sad that this will actually keep some from upgrading to W10 which has a lot to offer.
And to those worried about MS spying on you....pay attention during installation, and opt out of anything that shares your information. Done.
I happen to be a IT Specialist with near 20 years experience in support and application development, so for me it is second nature. Every time I have to help my parents .. I just take a deep breath.
But .. it is not a Whistler issue and really there is little they could have done .. it has nothing to do with testing. Really it is a one time .. 5 min procedure, that is very simple.
Is there probably a fix .. yes, but is it worth it, honestly no. It is well documented here. If you want to see issues .. go to the Uniden forum. This is pretty minor in comparison.
It is simply that MS made a change for Win 8 on wards that requires this and is not Windows 10 specific.
Re Windows 10, I do not care if MS sees what I do .. honestly, if they are that bored, then let them snoop all they want.

The code was 3-04, error writing to sd.
I tried a couple of times to reformat as per instructions but it won't take. Also tried reformatting/writing to a spare card but that dind't work either.
I'll have to buy a new card and try that I suppose.
