I can get my PSR-800 to crash - can any of you repeat my problem?

Power on
Search
Service Search
Railroad
Open squelch with knob
- the idea here is just to get the scanner to stop on a frequency, you could also repeat this if the scanner
was actually receiving somehing.
Press "skip".

At this point my display goes blank - seems to power itself off.

Can any of you repeat this?

TIA

Also requires me to remove batteries and put them back in to turn on scanner.

Confirmed bug in Railroad search mode. It will be fixed in the next firmware release (no, I don't know when that will be).

In the meantime, there's a workaround: instead of hitting SKIP, hit MENU and scroll to the active channel number, then hit SEL. That will toggle the "enabled" state of the channel, just like SKIP, but without invoking the bug.

This is why I'm staying with the pro-106. The gre 800 is too new with obviously a few bugs to be worked out.
Not to mention a steep price tag.

This would keep you from buying it?

I have one and can confirm it's not like it's full of bugs by any means.

Well, I must admit that the programming of many different states for a trip is tedious, time-consuming, & annoying at times. Hence, I will likely purchase one of two radios in the near future: a) PSR 800; or b) HP. I love my GRE PSR 500; however, I might welcome convenience.

?? Undecided at this point in time. I might change my tune after I read more on it.

Thanks. Glad to know it just wasn't me. I was on a train trip and was sometimes hitting "skip" by accident and stumbled upon this problem.

As I've been on my trip, I've really enjoyed using the PSR-800 and it will be a keeper for me.

Looking forward to the firmware update.
