I ran into such an error 3-01 xxxxx today and fixed it this way:
In the "GRECOM EZ Scan Digital" software download the most recent frequency library updates and update your existing scan lists with them.
To be sure your scanner will run on the desired settings and scan lists, do this before the below described procedure: check every settings screen in your "GRECOM EZ Scan Digital" software and make the desired adjustments. If not sure what to do, just press the "Restore Factory Defaults" button and afterwards select either Band Plan "USA" or "Canada".
Handling the defective SD Card:
The GRECOM scanner does not perform well as a card reader or writer. An external (or computer internal) card reader is needed to perform repair work on a defective SD Card.
1. Use an external card reader device, place the offending SD Card in it and use the "SD Formatter" software (download from the Internet) and reformat (full, erase, size adjustment: on) the SD card.
2. Keep the SD Card in the external card reader and use "GRECOM EZ Scan Digital" to access the SD Card in the card reader - not in the scanner. Then select: Scanner/SD Card -> Prepare Scanner/SD Card for use. In the software menu highlight the SD card (which should be in the card reader) and check the following boxes: Quick Format, Copy current configuration data to SD Card after format, Copy Library files to SD Card after format. Then click "Format" button, press the "Enter" key on the computer keyboard when prompted in the black command window and allow the process to finish. Then click the "Close" button.
3. Do the "Safely Remove Hardware" thing, depending on the OS version somewhere in the system tray. Then remove the SD Card or disconnect the card reader with the SD Card.
4. Remove the scanner batteries, insert the SD Card into the scanner, replace the batteries.
Your scanner should now work again and run on the settings and latest frequency library that you have in your "GRECOM EZ Scan Digital" software on your computer.
