I was entering a private ID this afternoon into my '500,and all of a sudden. the radio locks up and won't do anything, but go beep, beep, beep, beep etc.......
I figured out that it was a key that was stuck on, but no apparent stuck key and no liquid spill or anything like that.
So I took it apart, and on the inside of the rubberized keypad, there are what look to be carbon contacts.
I cleaned both the cct brd, and the inside of the keypad and reassembled.
Problem solved.
I've only had the radio since November 07, so this is not something I was expecting. On my old PRO43, maybe... but not the '500
But I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem?
Is there a way to fill in or (replenish) the carbon contact spots on the inside of the rubber keypad???
I guess I'll have to keep the small screwdrivers handy in my vehicle from now on. : )
