In my case I apparently do have the correct DSP for phase 2 just not the fully upgraded CPU - which I am fine with for now...

Everything else seems to be working fine other then that - copying to and from is fine , etc. The only other thing is sometimes it does the "not detected" message when programming but if I give it a few trys it goes thru...

Im thinking the problem is the USB ports on the actual computer itself at this point...

And trentbob - when upgrading the DSP i don't think you have to hold the menu button down- you just plug in the USB with the power off if that helps...

Again thanks to everyone for the great help - almost thought it was going to work a few times :D

You are right. No holding down buttons for an upgrade. Just plug in usb while scanner is off. You should be starting with a screen on the scanner that is just running time display. If your situation now includes the software recognizing scanner you will eventually get it to 1.9 but like you said, 1.8/1.3 gets you phase 2.

If its still not recognizing scanner I would uninstall the driver and reinstall the one that can be downloaded in another thread of this forum. Its an old post but I used that driver on a clean system without 800 drivers to make the last remaining upgrade to 1.9 this year.

DSP version

Is there a difference between DSP 1.2 and 1.3?
I'm at 1.2 and CPU 1.9 and Phase 2 is working fine.
The old motto is , if it's not broke don't fix it!
