• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

We are seeking a person passionate about SDR technology who has a proven history of understanding how to receive public safety radio systems. The three main skill sets we are seeking include:
  • A clear understanding of public safety radio reception; how to measure signal strength, noise, and other factors that can impede reception.
  • An understanding of what equipment is necessary to optimize reception.
  • An expert level understanding of SDR technology; which programming software does what as well as how best to utilize that software to optimize reception.
If you have a passion for listening to scanner radio audio, love the challenge of finding reception where others could not, and enjoy figuring out how to follow conversations as the unfold at a fire, flood, or other structure damage event - You're going to love this job! Former fire fighters who also love listening to scanners or one of Radio Reference's editors, would find this job very rewarding.

This is a great opportunity to work at a very small company with huge ambition. We seek to build a relationship with a person who is a scanner/RF enthusiast in order to build a fun, rewarding, profitable future together.

Please send us your resume, if you have one focused on radio reception, as well as share with us why you would be the best fit for the job in an email. Please also send us how much you require in hourly payment. The ideal candidate will be an RF expert who would find this job a lot of fun while also loving the idea of being able to earn money while applying their passion or hobby.

The successful candidate will work in a contractor capacity while working remotely and on their own schedule, but also be able to meet very reasonable deadlines. This is *not* an employee/employer/W2 position.

Please contact john @ FireLeads.com (spaces intentional, obviously remove them to email) or call 401 590 JOHN.
