Quick key problems on FreeScan

Is it necessary to assign quick keys to the imported groups before downloading to the scanner? For some reason I cant assign these keys after I import them to FreeScan. Can I just import from RadioReference to FreeScan and then download to my scanner? This is for my BCD996P2. Ive never owned a digital scanner or used FreeScan programming so Im trying to learn this Program.

DOWNload the data into Freescan - assign the Quick Keys IN FREESCAN, SAVE, then UPLOAD to the scanner.

Thats the problem. It wont assign the quick keys. I click on the group then click on the quick key and nothing comes up next to the group.

what happens when you click on the sites tab amd use a good software package like proscan.

I dont know since i don't use proscan. Not a big deal. Ill Figure it out.

The quick keys you assign to sites are system quick keys. Group quick keys are an entirely different animal.
