Hmm, let's try this again. The standard SMA will not mate up with the quick connect QMA. They are incompatible.
If you want the top of the APX portable to have a quick connect, you'll need to buy an SMA female to some sort of quick connect type adapter. It really doesn't matter what you have on the other end of that barrel sticking up out of the APX...you can go with a QMA male or female, or you can keep it even simpler and just go from SMA to BNC, which are a dime a dozen.
You seem to be hung up on the QMA, however you should probably just get an SMA female to BNC barrel, then use a pigtail to go from BNC to UHF (SO239). Why bother with QMA when the weakest link in the chain as far as frequency range is the crappy UHF connector?
