My whistler scanner doesnt show the correct radio id. how do i know? i have law enforcement family that tests things for me lol. i had 3 officers key up their radios at different times. all showed the same all different times, but its not the correct id because their radio was showing the correct one. What is causing this?

Could be a number of reasons.

Not sure how the scanners handle Decimal versus Hexidecimal.

Most public safety radios can be loaded with a list that will translate the radio ID into a specific name.

As stated the UID 1234567 is the Radio ID but the Radio Programmer will program the Radios where UID 1234567 is displayed as 4486.
So if you want your Scanner to show the same as a Commerical Radio you need to do the same thing as the person that programmed the Radios and it is a good chance, I know the programmer and no I will not share that or any information I may or may not have.
You need to get a note pad and log the UID's and what the Users Radio ID goes by. Example UID 1234567 aliases 4486 or whatever they are using.
It is known by the true UID where that Radio belongs and who it belongs to and where it is allowed to operate.

i’m not talking about trunked systems. im talking about conventional DMR. it doesn’t show the correct one. i haven’t messed with any settings, or touched anything. it used to show the correct ones, but it doesn’t now.

If you have your radio set via the EZ Scan software to show a transmitting radios RID, it is just going to show you the ID that radio was given at the time it was programmed into the system it is on (like 105014 or whatever).

If you want your radio to display some other label/tag like 'unit 10' or 'Bob' or 'Engine 12' or whatever, it's up to you to find/figure out that info is and program that into your radio via the EZ Scan s/w along with that original 105014 or whatever RID (under the "Radio ID Details" tab).

You also need to use the EZ Scan s/w to set it to display the new tag/label instead of/in addition to, the default RID ( under the "Advanced Features", then "General Settings" tabs).

make the radio id show up as something else. Example: 801102 i would like to be "Engine 2" or "102"
Then you need to program the aliases into the scanner using EZ Scan, you must know the RID and alias to program it in. Just as a side note, if you want to hear all radios, not just ones listed (including dispatch consoles) you must include a wildcard.
