Yea, I have a message into Ric (Unitrunker) to ask about a format that could be used to share radio IDs.

One of the challenges is easily sharing and entering the Radio IDs into the application. It would be nice if we could simply export our files and import them without disrupting what we already have entered.

I like the idea of a wiki, I was looking at this earlier today due to a post to this effect in another forum. The challenge is entering all of the IDs into the DB as there are sooooo many radios.

Anybody else have a thought on being able to easily share IDs?

Sorry I have been out sick and just saw this...

The answer is yes I can assign a name. Take a look at the screen shot below.

"SO Dispatcher" is the Alpha Tag I have entered for RID 53229

So let me see if I can wrap my mind around this. If you knew the name of the person using the radio, you could put his/her name in place of the RID like we do with agencies on TGs. Is that correct?

Wow, how cool.

Wow, what a lot of work!

Egg-zact-lee! :D

That is basically what we are doing with Unitrunker but now GRE also allows you to do the same thing on the scanner.

The drawback is programing the RID counts as an object (GRE speak for 'takes up space') so it will impact the overall memory.

In the right situation on the right systems it would be very cool!

Yea, I have a message into Ric (Unitrunker) to ask about a format that could be used to share radio IDs.

So in speaking with Ric (Unitrunker) the ability to easily share data is is planed for one of his updates. I specifically mentioned Radio IDs and he acknowledged that it was at least being thought about.

So for now, we might just have to independently build up our data files and then swap once the interface is available...

Did I tell anybody how much I love the new version?
