since we are on the subject of chrome...
Check for an update & the current browser version
  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click More
    More
    .
  3. Click Help
    And then
    About Google Chrome.
The current version number is the series of numbers beneath the "Google Chrome" heading. Chrome will check for updates when you're on this page.
To apply any available updates, click Relaunch.

it seems it does not update by itself.
and it can't hurt to stay updated.

I wonder why the link in Google just brings up the HTML page but if you right click the link and open in incognito mode everything seems to be fine. Original google link still not working for me but the forum link seems to work

It sounds like your browser is still using a cached copy of the page taken when it was broken.
The forums were never broken so that explains why that still works.

Clear your browser history and cache as has been mentioned and you should be fine.

My browser still showed the broken frontpage a few minutes ago despite the fix being implemented a while ago; Ctrl-F5 fixed it. Don't underestimate how aggressive your web browser caches webpages.

If Ctrl-F5 doesn't fix it, clear the browser's cache (Ctrl-Shift-Delete on Firefox; accessible by menus in Chrome and Edge). Can't load a cached copy if there is no cached copy.

After waiting a few days (figuring it would clear up but hasn't) I cleared the cookies for the site on Firefox and Chrome and it works fine. I didn't need to wipe everything out on the browsers.

On Chrome, goto the site. Where the lock is, click it and goto Cookies. Open that and remove them for the site.

On Firefox, goto the site and click the lock. Clear Cookies and Site Data.

I haven't used IE in forever and never got into using Edge, but I'm sure getting to it isn't difficult.
