Please practice grammer! Run on sentences without punctuation - very hard to read.

Did you load the drivers for the cable? Are you using the pigtail (most of the RS scanners, except for some very old ones, don't need it)?

And no there is no way to 'fix' the scanner to decode a NAC without a fair amount of changes.

Try a slower computer. I recently reprogrammed a Pro-96 for an old boss.. Had to use an older laptop running XP. Worked like a charm.

1 . BEFORE you plug the cable in open up Device Manager
2. Plug in the cable and note which com port in Device Manager it is assigned to.
3. Open your program and when you upload make sure it is using the same com port that is noted in
Device Manager.

I use Win96 and even with Windows 10 I have never had a problem programming my 96.

RS pro2096 cable

Did you look to see if the cable you're using is one of those that doesn't work with ARC96?
From their website:
Radioshack PC interface cable 20-047 or 20-546 (USB) or 20-289 (RS232) or the GRECOM USB cable
**IMPORTANT: Radioshack cables 20-048, 20-049 do NOT work with the PRO96/PRO2096

My 20-047 works perfectly with ARC96.

XP? Who told you to use XP? ARC96 will run on Windows XP/7/9/10.
If the cable came with the pigtail you have the correct cable but the pigtail should NOT be used. Make sure the drivers installed properly and the correct port is selected in ARC96.
