True, but what happend was that the electronics folks like us went to better places as well as online, who needs a store with bad selection, along with rude (and not to bright) sales staff? I sure don`t need that. Fact is once the internet thingy happened it was basically game over for dear ol` Radio Shack (going from an electronics/radio store to a more-or-less cellphone/SAT TV store didn`t help much ether). Still, it`s kinda sad that RS kinda came off the tracks, but now we can snag any electronics stuff at any good online store if we want. N9NRA.

Yeah a couple of years ago I went to a store in Roanoke. They didn't know what a scanner was or if they had antennas for them. Told me to go to another store who had "Experts" in that "Stuff"

So went down to this "Expert" store and the three sales clerks weren't sure if they had anything like that. One then said "Yes we do" and took me back to where "It" was to show me CB and mobile TV antennas.

When I said they weren't for scanners they were totally confused and only one thought he knew what a scanner was. "Isn't that something to listen to the police or something"

Finally another one said they'd call the guy who "Knew" about that stuff and after trying for ten minutes came back to say he told them he wasn't sure what I wanted but they didn't have it anyway.

Then they asked if I was interested in a cell phone. I told them I'd go to Verizon if I was and goodbye.

That is the sad state RS came to.

I did get some great deals at the Lexington store as it was going OOB.

Truly sad as I first got into scanners back in the 70s there. I remember poring through these little plastic bins of crystals for the old radios looking for the different SO and CoFD crystals to populate my brand new top of the line 4 channel scanner. LOL

Finding the tac channels was a pain as they never had a lot and everyone wanted them.

Curious, what are "Radio Shack Clothes"
I've never seen them in Uniforms

Seeing some stores around here have people by the entrance to the shopping center they're located in holding signs advertising up to 80% entire store (exclusions apply and not valid on Sprint purchases). Not sure if these are actual Radio Shack employees or not as none of the ones I saw had Radio Shack clothes on.

The Chillicothe store with their sale was still very high priced like the cassette adapter so you could listen to your cd's in a car with no cd player $27.99 I saw the same thing for 5 bucks at Walmart and 1 dollar at the dollar tree, but he swore they were not going out of business if they were he would have so much stuff to sell, I shook my head and left

No but people are getting nice bargains. I for one will miss them as I repair most of my own equipment and they were a nice source for parts.
Generally expensive parts with limited selection. You can do a lot better online these days. But, if you just need onsey-twosey parts, it was a handy source. My local store is about 2 miles away which was very convenient.

Seems like the sales staff always wore nice casual clothes and wore name badges. Lately, when I go into my local store, which is closing, the young guy who seems to be running the place is just wearing cargo pants and a white T-shirt. Not very professional looking at all.

These "sign walkers" are not RS employees. They're contracted from local temp agencies.

If you want, I'll post pix of 3 generations of RS shirts I have in my closet. :) RadioShack didn't exactly require uniforms, only adherence to a dress code. Lately, that specified red or black shirts, with khaki or black pants. So, if you had multiple employees working together, they may not even be dressed the same. In most cases in the past, if we wanted a shirt with a logo, we'd have to pay for it out of our own pockets. Only once did the company provide us with t-shirts at no cost to us.

If they were wearing a shirt with a Sprint logo, they were a Sprint employee and not a RadioShack employee.

Exactly, in 40+ years of visiting RS's, nothing stood out as a common pattern.
Everyone wore something different. Generally Business Casual and a name tag

RadioShack's dress code always seemed to be suffering from an identity crisis. In later years, the requirements changed more often than the weather. There was even a time, that I call the "Farm Store Phase", when jeans were acceptable. I always threatened to bring a bucket of manure to the store to give it a more authentic odor.

My favorite was the 2012-2014 dress code with red polos for associates or red button down shirts for managers and black pants. :) The red button down shirts looked really nice and professional.

Do it!

Back when I was a manager, I was advised by my District Manager that if I had aspirations for advancement, I should wear custom tailored suits. I still have two "Hart, Schaffner & Marx" suits hanging in my closet...

...why is another question since there's no way I'll ever fit into them again!

:) LMAO @ "there's no way I'll ever fit into them again!", been there done that. Only time (I believe) I'll fit into my perfectly pristine military uniform, will be when the undertaker slices the jacket up the back. Although I weigh less today than when I retired, it kinda shifted around a bit (if you know what/where I mean). :)

Do it!

You asked for it:

The "Team RadioShack" was during "The Shack" era.
The red polo was worn in the 2013-14 time frame, and again during the past two years.
The gray t-shirt was given to us to wear just after the 2014 Super Bowl commercial, with the dark gray polo being worn as an alternative.

And no, they're not for sale! :)
