Oops, already posted

Love the new look

Only thing I have noticed is that the mouse over map for Illinois has a couple counties wrong. It looks like you have Lake & Lasalle counties reversed

other than that I like it

Everything looks great. Love the clickable map!!! One thing I have noticed: is there a way to maybe add a second PL for systems that have a split pl config?

Additional PL's in the same city/town/county/township are normally listed with the same freq on another line entry with the additional agency tag. Though often they are in nearby area so will be found in that areas listing.

If you know of two PL's using the same frequency, submit the data to the associated database page(s).

Looking good here, and had some fresh updates on my watch list. Keep up good work.

What I am speaking of is a lot of the Catawba County NC pls are showing incorrect because we have a split PL system and the submitting party is listing the Tx PL. What I mean by that is We transmit one pl and receive another pl. We also use pl steering, using different pls on the transmit side to change repeater sites. I just thought is would be nice to be able to show both sides. No biggie I just wonder how many other systems may be like that out there.

Let me try and explain what we do here in regards to this type of situation.

First, we do not enter or care about input tones (PL, DPL, or NAC) for repeaters.

If there are multiple repeaters on the same frequency in the area and they use the same output tone, then there will be one entry in the DB. If there are multiple repeaters on the same frequency in the area and they use different output tones then we will put them on seperate lines (as Frank indicated above).

The reason for this should be obvious, this site is dedicated to monitoring and most people only care about the output of repeaters; hence the policy. That is the policy and I am sure that if you search through the DB you will find instances that this policy is violated, that doesn't change the policy though. This policy is not expected to change with the updated site; although since all the entries in the DB will have to be looked at, you may see several of those entries, which are not in compliance, change.

In regard to those few members who find it advantageous to monitor the input side of repeaters (for whatever reason) if they were in a place where "repeater steering" was being used they would probably (a) already know the tones and (b) monitor CSQ or with a search anyway.

2. The database will not at this time support multiple location based information entries for frequencies etc. Currently, we will provide location based information for trs sites, talkgroup categories, and frequency sub-categories.

Are you saying that TRS sites, talkgroup categories and frequency sub-categories will support multiple locations per instance?

Thank you!

Dave

Missing data

When will the following site from Fort Knox be listed in the beta site?

I also notice when counties are updated on the original site, they are not showing up in the beta version.

I have also noticed when I do a frequency search in Kentucky for a known frequency like 151.355, I get the following error:

error on Identified Frequency Query->
Unknown column 'site_freqs.sid' in 'where clause'

Just to let you know Lindsay, other wise I think the site is super, Just curious if you would consider allowing the individual user to change their background color that would take effect when they log in, I don't know if its possible, just checking.

The beta is not updated based on the actual site. As stated earlier in the thread, that was a dump of the data from the actual DB as of 7/1/2007 and only updates applied to the beta DB will be reflected in that set of data. Also, any updates applied to the beta will be wiped out when the actual system goes live (as there will be another data dump from the current DB). Since the Ft Knox system was placed in the DB after mid-July the short answer to all of your questions is, when the system goes live or another copy of the actual DB replaces the one in beta right now.

Is there a tentative date when everything will switch to the new format?

Forum structure suggestion

Very nice so far. I have been to different types of forums and by far the best structured forum, in my opinion, is found at www.dpreview.com (threaded view, not flat view).

Is there any way of using this type of forum structure. The benefit is that you don't have to scroll to see all the messages. All the title threads are there at the bottom. The entire page simply gets longer with each new message. In my opinion it is much more pleasing and easier to search throughout a thread.

Thank you for all the work you have done for the new alpha site.
