Ryan, what mismatched header issue are you referring to?

I'm talking about the way you just sort of placed the image at the top of the page.. It doesn't really look right IMO.. Just sort of stands out against the background and the rest of the page in general...

below are some images of some possible ways I can make it look for you compared to the way it looks now..

FYI... In the database for West Virginia, the large county near the center of the state says Jefferson (and links to Jefferson), but should be Kanawha. Jefferson is listed again, and correctly, in the far right corner of the state.

The correct database link for Kanawha is http://beta.radioreference.com/apps/db/?ctid=3016

Thanks,
Chris

Chris, I fixed the Kanawha County issue - however Jefferson county is missing data in the mapping functions and might take a while to fix.

BTW - I've released over 100 fixes to the beta site since the initial release. The big codebase refresh occurred this weekend. Most of the fixes revolve around the admin interface and the portal.

Ryan, thanks for your suggestions. I'll look into it with a graphic designer later on in the release cycle.

Well like I said,.. I'm offering my services.. I AM a graphic designer, and I wont charge.

In fact, to make the change will take all of about 40 seconds...

Please try to keep the new site "dial-up friendly" as there are some of us who are not able to get cable lines or DSL out where the deer and the antelope play.
I second the motion even though I know that wont be the case. Ive watched countless pages become a nightmare for dial up. I oftentimes feel like Oliver Wendall Douglas climbing up a telephone pole to make a phone call.

I'd say this entire website is already pretty dial up friendly (coming from a guy with a 7 Meg cable connection ;p). Everything is mostly just tables and text, with minimal images.. Thats pretty much about as dial up friendly as you can get.. Obviously a page will load slow at times, but thats just the nature of dial up, I remember what 1999 was like :).

(you know yahoo DSL is like $15 a month right?)

40 minutes in what direction? Are you in the middle of Lake Michigan?

South. Most often people that live in rural area's can't get dsl because the phone lines won't support it. The cable companies don't want to install cable in the outlying area's because there are not enough customers to warrant a build out

You must be more than 40 minutes south,... I'm 40 minutes from the loop south, and I'm in Oak Lawn.. What are you in the southern burbs?

But I guess you're right about that.. I've dealt with the whole DSL thing and being too far from the "hub" or whatever.. I didn't know that about cable though.. I thought the infrastructure was pretty much there as long as the cables are laid.. The internet flows through the same stuff as the TV doesn't it? (dont tell me you don't have cable TV in your area)..

Suggestion - Maps

Since so many folks use this site to program scanners for travels throughout the U.S. could this include interstate highways?

I realize not everything can go on such a map...but Interstate hwys would help those select the counties needed for scanning/driving a particular interstate highway.

Just a thought.........

Thanks,
Julian

Julian,

Do you mean on the US map or on the state maps? They already show on the county maps.

Good Morning!

I don't know if the original images in the very colorful top will show up in this post, but all I can say is, "WOW!" I understand that those with dial-up would hate to have to try and load each page and the 'load time' would be lengthy and horrendous. I have "HellSOUTH", DSL and I'm at the very outreach of the "CO" (Central Office). When the lines are even damp with humidity, my service is more non-existant than viable. :-( But, I'd LOVE to be able to see the pages like this. Just my humble opinion. Maybe one day, huh?

Now, to Lindsey and all the Moderator's....My eternal "Thanks" for all the hard work each of you does to keep us abreast of changes and for this website. It's awesome! I just hope we can continue to "monitor" the different bands and services, without being stopped by the guise of "Homeland Security".

I'm "moving" my radio "shack"/computer room soon to a larger bedroom with a 240 ac circuit for my Heathkit SB-220 amp. Naturally, the scanners will all have a "spot" on the shelves and "loaded". I'm hoping to set up some antennas in the back lot that will enable me to "monitior" everything from DC to "Light", LOL!

Blessings,
Respectfully submitted,

I second that. I've had to compare an atlas to the maps more than once when planning a trip. It would be handy just for orientation and reference too.

My submissions?

I just would like to know what "My Submissions" is and what it will be used for under each members profile on the new site. I tried to pull it up but all it said was "searching".

Thanks

With the following qualifications:
I think and as explained the plan is:
You will be able to see the status of your submissions to the database. Say you submitted some change to your county page, but you don't see the change happening on the DB; you can check the status of your submission. If you never submitted anything, you should not get a list there.

Interstate Hwys on Map

My suggestion is to have interstate highways display on map.

I suppose the best way to view would be once you click on a state, then have the interstate highways show up. That way a person planning a trip could see the counties through which a particular interstate passes.

My compliments to those working on the new version of Radio Reference. Awesome!!

Thanks!!
