Railroad freqs and PL's

Ironhorse,

Most railroads do not use PL's on train operations frequencies, some non-operations frequencies (signal, engineering, etc.) do but most train channels do not. One reason for this is the large number of engines that are used from other railroads would make it extra difficult to keep track of the correct channel plus the correct PL. There may be some exceptions but I think they are only on small short-line railroads and in yard operations, not mainline use.

PL

NS does use PL but you cam only put this on 160.245 103.5 tpl. This is is used to block the dispacher from hearing all the chatter till he is toned up on 160.950 and 160.245 but you can only use it on channel 160.245. In Virgina and Tennesee the use a deffent pl and I don't know them.
