Raleigh/Wake County

I was in the Raleigh-Wake County area a couple of weekends ago. I had the scanner in scan mode, and I noticed that Wake County has started using an automated dispatch system.

My question is are all agencies being dispatched on 154.190 or are they still being dispatched the old way.

I know Raleigh Fire is still dispatched on 154.370.

I was just wanting to know if the County Ems agencies are still dispatched on 156.225 and Wake Ems is still dispatched on 462.950 or has everything switched to 154.190.

Could be he is confusing trunking with automation.

It is a computer-generated voice that reads the intial dispatch from their CAD system, gives the nature, the location, the cross streets and announces the equipment to respond.

Wake County is using Locution CadVoice software that automates dispatching of Fire & EMS units...the same info that is dispatched out by the computerized voice is also sent to Alphanumeric Pagers carried by EMS & Fire personnel....this is all part of Wake County switching over to an 800Mhz mixed mode 3600 Baud Moto System...The Fire & EMS units hear the initial dispatch over 154.190Mhz or their dispatch talkgroup and respond over a "PS" Public Safety or "Ops" talkgroup...more info can be found at my website below...hope this helps!

WOW, learn something new everyday! Never heard that being used,.. would hopefully be better than the NOAA robo voices lol.

The system is really interesting to listen to, and the intelligence built into it is surprising at times. When it comes to a word in the operator dispatch entry line that is not in its database, it actually spells the word. First time I heard this thing a few weeks back, I couldn't believe what I was hearing. From the speaking rhythm of the voice, it's obviously a "robovoice", but it's not a Steven Hawking or Cylon type of thing at all. Sounds much like the demo on the Locution website. The NOAA broadcasts that use the pleasant sounding, almost human sounding voices are the ones that are Locution or something very similar.

It pronounces "Lenoir" as French... "Len-wah".
