Just learned that Ramsey PD (Bergen County) is now fully encrypted? Can anyone confirm?
It has been previously reported here that Paramus does plan to fully encrypt with a three site simulcast digital system.I'm sure Paramus will follow when they make the switch. Pure speculation, nothing official before a few get their panties in a bunch.
One by one!!It has been previously reported here that Paramus does plan to fully encrypt with a three site simulcast digital system.
Most local agencies that encrypt provide code plug information to neighboring law enforcement agencies if requested. The encryption is intended to keep the general public and press in the dark.Back in the "old days' having HoHokus, Waldwick, Allendale, Saddle River, Upper Saddle River, Ramsey and Mahwah all on 37.08 mHz really helped with agency coordination on incidents and crimes on Route 17 with so many jurisdictions covering relatively short sections of the highway. After each town got its own frequency I don't know whether officers continued to monitor the other towns, but I guess if they do that may end, at least for monitoring Ramsey.
Well now we have technology and MOU's that allow more efficient communications. Otherwise if a resource is needed it can be requested by dispatch or over SPENBack in the "old days' having HoHokus, Waldwick, Allendale, Saddle River, Upper Saddle River, Ramsey and Mahwah all on 37.08 mHz really helped with agency coordination on incidents and crimes on Route 17 with so many jurisdictions covering relatively short sections of the highway. Thanks. One note of interest is that here in Cape May County the Ocean City Police, encrypted on the Atlantic County P25p2 system, have patched their dispatch talkgroup unencrypted to the NJICS which is used by all of the other police agencies in Cape May County. The patch started last autumn and has continued 24/7.Most local agencies that encrypt provide code plug information to neighboring law enforcement agencies if requested.
Yea it is. 424/425 respond on that.Is that used for EMS response too? Are the responding ambulances encrypted?
