Just learned that Ramsey PD (Bergen County) is now fully encrypted? Can anyone confirm?
It has been previously reported here that Paramus does plan to fully encrypt with a three site simulcast digital system.I'm sure Paramus will follow when they make the switch. Pure speculation, nothing official before a few get their panties in a bunch.
One by one!!It has been previously reported here that Paramus does plan to fully encrypt with a three site simulcast digital system.
Most local agencies that encrypt provide code plug information to neighboring law enforcement agencies if requested. The encryption is intended to keep the general public and press in the dark.Back in the "old days' having HoHokus, Waldwick, Allendale, Saddle River, Upper Saddle River, Ramsey and Mahwah all on 37.08 mHz really helped with agency coordination on incidents and crimes on Route 17 with so many jurisdictions covering relatively short sections of the highway. After each town got its own frequency I don't know whether officers continued to monitor the other towns, but I guess if they do that may end, at least for monitoring Ramsey.
Well now we have technology and MOU's that allow more efficient communications. Otherwise if a resource is needed it can be requested by dispatch or over SPENBack in the "old days' having HoHokus, Waldwick, Allendale, Saddle River, Upper Saddle River, Ramsey and Mahwah all on 37.08 mHz really helped with agency coordination on incidents and crimes on Route 17 with so many jurisdictions covering relatively short sections of the highway. Thanks. One note of interest is that here in Cape May County the Ocean City Police, encrypted on the Atlantic County P25p2 system, have patched their dispatch talkgroup unencrypted to the NJICS which is used by all of the other police agencies in Cape May County. The patch started last autumn and has continued 24/7.Most local agencies that encrypt provide code plug information to neighboring law enforcement agencies if requested.
Yea it is. 424/425 respond on that.Is that used for EMS response too? Are the responding ambulances encrypted?
It must’ve changed if that’s the case. As far as I used to listen to them they always responded on PD.It sounds like the ambulances are responding on 154.025 as well as being dispatched. Are they just on VHF or are they rebroadcasting that?
Sounds weird they use it for response also because t hey other tac channelsIt sounds like the ambulances are responding on 154.025 as well as being dispatched. Are they just on VHF or are they rebroadcasting that?
And then there were the 60's and 70's when all towns on Rt 17 from Hohokus to Mahwah were on 37.08, and towns near Rt 208 from Fair Lawn to Franklin Lakes as well as Ridgewood and Midland Park were on 158.73. You could hear plenty with just those two frequencies, which was good because you had to buy crystals for the first scanners, which could only scan 8 or 10 frequencies.Life was grand in the 90's when just about every North Jersey PD was on VHF and bergernscanner.com had all the info you needed.
Thanks Ed I tried to keep it going when I moved down to Cape May but I gave up when towns started moving to the NJICS system . I owe a lot to you and other people like Charlie, N2NOV and Bob, WA2SQQ as well as many other people like David, K2DBKLife was grand in the 90's when just about every North Jersey PD was on VHF and bergernscanner.com had all the info you needed.
