• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Howdy all,

So we're looking for a programming cable for the RCA RDR4360. We know that RCA doesn't offer them for sale, but if you want to put your radios in a box and ship them to CA, they'll do it for you. Not.

We found that the RDR2550 programs with a standard micro usb data cable. Great. That cures half the problem.

Has anyone had any luck getting their hands on a cable for the 4360? Unfortunately, it's not micro-USB.

Has anyone attempted to fabricate a cable?

Waiting to hear back from Mark @ BlueMax....he's been great providing us with hard to get stuff.

Some knuckle head at work bought a bunch of older model RCA radios without talking to my shop, then dropped them off and wanted them programmed.

After going round and round trying to access programming software and not having any luck, we gave up. Had them send the radios back for a refund and set them up with some appropriate radios that I had software/cables for. Was cheaper/easier in the long run.

Short answer: No, never had any luck…..

Seems this is a newer radio with all the DMR flavors, sadly, my radio stockpile source doesn't have this or even close.
Mark might be able to come up with something, or check out groups.io.

I recall when the "new RCA radios" were offered not too long ago (some years ago), RCA had a statement attached to the ad, something to the effect of "All programming is done in-house"

That was a shot in the foot, to say the least.

RCA refused to sell us the cables and software since we are a radio shop. They are CCR for sure, but the software only talked to the RCA models (if I recall).

I don't recall how we figured it out, but I think we ordered 2 radios and the software and cable from the company to allow us to reprogram the customer's many dozens of radios.

Why make it so hard to support the end user?
