realistic pro 34

my pro 34 screen is not lite. i need help with this old format. im new at this and am trying to get involved with scanning frequencies,please help if you can,

i need help getting the screen to display. it has fresh batteries. but nothing on the screen. when off for a long while, and turned on i get a click. but no display on the screen.

I think you are asked about the PRO-34 scanners display light not working. It didn't have one best lights on the display when new with it just being a white light.

Going forward with this scanner over 30 years old + I doubt anyone would work on it and parts are most likely not available anymore.

Radio systems and scanners are light years ahead of this scanner, plus radio systems are much different now.

Going forward it only monitor analog and much public safety is p25 or other digital modes. It won't even do well on analog with public safety Part 90 frequencies now using narrowband and this scanner with made in wideband days.

Could be a bad IC (integrated circuit) chip and/or dried out capacitors. Capacitors can be replaced but you will need a schematic and some basic equipment, like a multi-meter and soldering iron. The IC's are almost certainly out of production and almost impossible to obtain, unless you find a parts donor radio.

the wife made a little display 'cube' in an entertainment center and put the 34 in it with some crystal radios and even crystals.
she likes antique stuff, guess that is why i am still here.
sometimes you have to put old stuff aside.
there is even zaxxon motherboard in there.
she is an ex-IT woman and won't likes the apple 2e.
i know that the OP has not been back, yet.
but there is always hope.

I get it, I too have lots of old scanners, including a PRO-43 and an inop PRO-34 and other RS scanners (even crystal ones)
