• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi,
Our club is operating a hytera rd985 as a 2m repeater. it’s up a hill with no internet connection. What’s the simplest way to connect to it remotely and change setting in the cps?
Thanks
Angus

What do you mean by "remote connection"? Do you want a remote access directly to repeater or a computer which is connected to repetear. Those are different things.

Hi All, Thanks for the replies above. Direct access to the repeater would be best for less kit installed and running at site. I guess some sort of mobile phone connection would be useful. Can you say a bit more about rdac?
Thanks again.

What we do with RDAC at our sites is, each site has a laptop with RDAC and teamviewer running. Repeater is plugged into the laptop so we can log in and make any codeplug changes or what not with the CPS and RDAC to check RSSI levels. Since we use a IP site connect system with our repeaters we can log into rdac from any computer and access all of our sites. If the repeater has multipul channels programmed in you can use RDAC to change channels and power levels, restart or shut down each repeater. Not having an internet connection makes that not possible unless you were at the site with a laptop. OR had some type of internet then could remotely connect to it that way

SO RDAC for what you want, can only change channels that are currently in the repeater and go from low to high power. If you want to ADD or remove channels/digital channels/talkgroups then you would have to have internet with a laptop connected with a programming cable and teamview or a google remote desktop setup to access it to make changes

We used RDAC to change frequencies before The key is to leave extra channels available in the code plug.
