reply in thread delay

I was viewing a thread and started a reply and got side tracked. An hour later as I was finishing my reply, the yellow banner popped up saying a new reply was posted and asked if I wanted to view it. This was at 10 10 am and the new reply was from 8 58 am. Is there supposed to be a delay of an hour? Only had that one tab open and was typing in the reply box 5 minutes prior to the new reply alert so the forum knew I was there and active.

It probably just waited until you were active again.

I've been typing a reply and have received the notification that someone has replied while I was typing.

Good morning Mike.

I thought about the activity triggering it but then that to was delayed as when I came back the hour later and started resuming my reply, I was actively typing in the window trying to get the wording correct and start to finish took about 10 minutes. It was at that point when it popped up

I have in the past noticed it displaying new replies almost instantly.

Oh well.
