Had my new BCD436HP portable uopa n running in a couple of days, but then screwed up the programing using the Sentinel Software. Cannot for the life of me find my error. How can I reset it to the new, out-of-the box, factory default settings? I can then just start over.

Pressing and holding 2, 9, and Dept when you power on the scanner will reset it.

What is it doing? Resetting the scanner will not help, as soon as you update the database from Sentinel whatever error settings are in Sentinel will be copied to the radio again and you're back to square 1.

Describe the problem so that you can get the Sentinel setting fixed.

I had programmed it correctly, initially. But when tweaking the file (adjusting favorites list contents) I apparently made an error. The scanner reads "Scan mode. Nothing to scan."

Starting with Edit Profile, did you set the FL(s) to download and monitor to ON?
If not do so now and write to the scanner. Also did you assign the FL(s) a quick Key (QK)? If not consider doing so before you write.

Now, with these settings ON and a FL QK assigned to the FL you can enable the FL in two ways:

If you set a FL quick key enter the QK and press E/yes. That should work and will be saved when you exit.

Second, before you write to scanner, in the Profile check the tab Quick Key Status and make sure the FL QK is checked. If not you can check it, save the profile and then write.

Either way should work.
Give it a try and let us know.

Also a good reference with a lot of good tips is Mark Scanners page
