Greetings,

I often open multiple windows in my browser when visiting a forum. For example, I load the main forums page and then open various sub-forums in a new tab by right-clicking the link and choosing "Open in new tab". This saves a lot of time and puts less demand on the server since I don't continuously reload the forum index page.

On the other hand, there are times when I am browsing the forums and want to open the RR home page in a new tab. Unfortunately, the URL associated with the Home button must be hidden by javascript or some other fancy code which obfuscates the URL. The result is that the browser doesn't recognize the button as a URL when using right-click or when the cursor is hovered over the button.

Is this something that might be addressed at some point in the future?

Thanks!

He want to be able to open the home button by right click->open in new tab. I would suggest just start with the home page as the first tab opened.

Rarely do I need to start on the home page or that's what I would do. Often, though, I am browsing the forums and wish to go to the Home page to follow up on something I read. I guess I just need to accept the fact that web developers want to control my browser as much as I don't want them to, even if their control means disabling a common browser behavior/feature.

It is not "disabled", that is they way all of the buttons work. The difference is that the action called on most of the buttons is to show a drop down menu. Both the "Home" and "Submit" buttons don't have drop downs menus, hence the "mouse over" is disabled on them so you don't accidentally go to the home or submit page by just passing over the button. That is the way the java script works and to the best of my knowledge there is no other way to handle it.

As a work around use the "Database" button to open the main database page in another tab (the drop down menus are just that, not java script) and then press the Home link on that new tab.

loumaag,

Thanks for your feedback. I have been around long enough to know how to work around the Home button. Loading an extra page to get there is inefficient for me and the RR server. I will harp on it no longer since it seems that I am the only one who gives a hoot.

Thanks for playing along. :)
