Well, I bought a Pro-106 today. 372.56 total with the Friends and Family coupon. No ac adapter or usb cable like the PSR-500. t is a little tough to program manually but I will figure it out until I can afford the cable and software.

Kerry: the Pro-106 went on sale this morning for $399 so take your receipt in and get a refund on the difference and you'll have enough money for the software and cable.

Brent: the 106 is Radio Shack's version of the PSR-500, Pro-197 is the same as PSR-600. With the friends and family 30% off coupon, the price becomes $280 + tax.

Yep. The Wiki is your friend. Firmware updates are not compatible, though, and there are a couple of other differences.

Thank you, now this brings me some more thought. Hoping to get a new scanner near x-mas. Had been set mostly on the GRE, but if this is the same it might run less. I also could get one of these locally...... thinking

I also bought one of these scanners today, the manual is horrible. this is my first scanner and so far today the best thing was RS telling me about this site. Can anyone point me to some threads on how to get it scanning in the Memphis Tn area? i downloaded the pro 96 software and i have the USB cable but still no luck on getting it to scan. I do have the driver loaded for the cable. Any help would be awsome thanks Chris

Well, I've got to say that this is an interesting situation. You are aware, cmkelly, that this is the Utah Forum. Tennessee's Forum is here, and I think they would be the best people to help you with the local area. We are not familiar with their systems.
