I thought the RSP1/A had internal RF shielding?

Anyway, I just prefer the fit and finish of the stock metal case, not just for the RF shielding but it just looks and feels better.

From what I read online there is some sort of treatment inside the case, but i've never bothered to open it up and check. Honestly, I would have preferred the metal case as well. In my use case you cannot even see mine... unless you aim a camera under the desk and use a flash. So if I wanted to use a metal box around it, no one would ever see it anyway.

In terms of performance is the RSP1B the same better then the RSPdx?
List of differences right on their page:
Attached is the comparison as well.

I only see two improvements. Metal case and improved noise reduction. Again is it the same thing as my 1A that i bought a metal case for? Seems to be. My noise came way down with the metal case.

My RSP1A was very noisy on both my laptops. I got one of the metal cases and tried several cables on it and eventually went to a 1 meter cable with some ferrite chokes on both ends, and it was pretty decent.

HRO shipped very fast, got it UPS last night. Had downloaded the latest software and it took right off working. Only have a mobile antenna sitting on the computer tower for now. And to work out this new software. Seems like a very nice rig.

Yes, hat's off to HRO. Dude calls me from the VA shop (less than an hour after I hit Submit Order) to tell me he had none, but after the big con(?) down south someone would grab some and bring them back to ship out to here. Ten day estimate, arrival beat the estimate.
I'm still checking it out, but right off the top, this is the first I've been able to get enough of this signal for it to at least decode the location, etc. Not good enough for audio, but better than the RSP1A it replaced.

Possibly the Orlando Hamcation coming up on February 9-11.

I completely forgot which one he said...thought it was last weekend, but I could've misheard him. And I checked, this unit actually came from the DE shop...I was thinking it was coming from FL, so maybe they freed up some more units. The fact that someone bothered to call up and say hey, here's the situation, was to be commended. I had submitted the order about 24 hours after the YouTube announcement was published, so I figured I'd be pretty far back in the queue...maybe not.

Why isn't the antenna port soldered directly to the board? The cable can introduce loss and noise, no?

For easy replacement 😁 with the rsp1a it was easy to not notice sma just turning and turning a little each time. Buddy thought his was dead, the sma panel mount had turn so much, over time the cable pig tailed, ipex pop off
