Rvr?

Hi: During our snowstorms the controllers at DIA always inform the pilots of the braking action on the runways as well as RVR's which today were more than 6000. Can anyone tell me what the RVRs are and what 6000 might mean? TIA, Adkad

I believe it is runway visual range.
