Okay so like ...

scansacpursuit
pursuits

scansacfire
major fires, multiple alarms, major accidents, resuces

scansacmajor
major incidents such as hostages, major shootings scene, manhunts, code 3 cover,
officer invovled shootings, swat team deployment, barricaded subject

scansac
routine notifications, fire, police activity, can be interesting but not MAJOR incidents

scansacinfo
general info regarding the site, news, updates

The only problem I see is for example last week a person posted on this site that they only wanted to listen to working fires so they were asking if they just monitored the fire tac channels would they just get fires. The answer is no because they assign tacs to more than just fires. I see the same problem with this but if it were a little more defined say scansacfire being only working fires scansactc being only crashes with lets say multiple injuries, 2 or more medics or extrication and so on that way you would only get notification for what you wanted to monitor. Personally I would track everything we can come up with but some people may just want specific things. I don't think we need to go as specific as to say something like a scansacfire2alarm, scansacfire3alarm, scansactcmci, scansactcextrication but just a little more definition could make a big difference.

This is what I would purpose:

scansacfire:
good working 1 alarm fire, 2 alarm fire.

scansacshooting:
shooting with injury, shooting with one fatality.

scansacstabbing:
stabbing with injury, stabbing with one fatality.

scansactc:
crash with multiple injuries (more than 2), crash with additional medics requested, crash with extrication.

scansachomeinvasion:
good home invasion, home invasion with minor injury.

scansachazmat:
hazmat with hazmat team dispatched, hazmat with minor injury.

scansacrobbery:
good 211 with suspect info, 211 with minor injury.

scansacpursuit:
working pursuit.

anything less than above should be a scansac and anything more than above should be a scansacmajor.

scansacmajor:
hostages, major shooting, manhunts, code 3 cover, officer involved shooting, swat team deployment, barricaded subject, anything more than covered above.

scansac:
routine notifications, fire, police activity, can be interesting but not major incident or less than covered above.

scansacinfo:
general info regarding the site.

We would most likely need to add/delete from the list as we discover whats working and not working.

I suggest we start with the following - This can be our base and see how well the notifications fall into place. This weekend I will create a page/section at the Scan Sacramento website

scansacfire:
multi-alarm fire, major or significant structure fires
(not car fires, illegal burns, contained grass fires)

scansacshooting:
Major injury or death with suspect info (manhunt)

scansactc:
Major traffic collisions, death, extrication, life-flight, major blockage/shutdown of roads

scansachazmat:
large evacuations, serious health issues

scansacrobbery:
Major robbery, banks, shooting, manhunt, violent

scansacpursuit:
In-progress vehicle pursuits

scansacmajor:
hostages, major shooting, manhunts, code 3 cover, officer involved shooting, swat team deployment, barricaded subject, anything more than covered above.

scansac:
Routine yet interesting notifications of public safety activity.

scansacinfo:
General info regarding the site

These terms need to be tracked on your Twitter profile ( http://www.twitter.com ) and your posts can NOT be locked or private. You can follow fellow Twitters by adding them to your "following" list, you will get ALL posts from that user.

Here are some Twitter commands

"off" turns phone updates off
"on" turns phone updates back on
"follow scansacramento" follow scansacramento’s updates on your phone
"off scansacramento" turn scansacramento’s updates off
"get scansacramento" get scansacramento’s last update

"d scansacramento" sends a direct message ONLY to scansacramento
( this only works to those that are your friends/followers )

I signed up a few hours ago. Since then, I've received test messages for all of the terms I've decided to track...

I will be sending out test messages for the next few days, hopefully get a good chunck of users/monitors up to speed for the weekend.

Also, this was my idea, but it's not MINE - I brought this up to get people together and brainstorm and develop a user friendly, pratical and efficient notification system.

I was attracted to the types of notifications. Text, E-mail and IM - Those involved can adjust their settings to suit their needs. As far as the keywords, they all can be adjusted as we move along. We could develop even more keywords such as by community. You could UNTRACK scansacpursuit but still TRACK FOLSOM PD to monitor a folsom pd pursuit.

Twitter is free, so expect some sluggish performance at times at the website. Appears each week they are adding new elements and moving things around. This is still a new website in the realm of the internet.

In my opinion that list is too long a list. I think the shorter the list the better, but that's just me. I'm currently only tracking scansac, scansacfire, scansacpursuit, and scansacmajor. A minute ago I had Antfreq send out a test with scansacinfo in it, and I received it even though I'm not tracking scansacinfo. So if you want a catch-all just put in scansac.

Also, we have a limited amount of space per message (140 characters). So remember not to get too descriptive, but make sure to include the important info. Maybe the agency, channel, and a short synopsis that maybe includes a timeframe.

I'm subscribed to "Scansac" and didn't get recent scansactc post since I am not tracking scansactc..

Sonticus, you got my scansacinfo because you are following me which means you will get all my posts regardless of keywords.

darn it, you're right. In that case I again suggest we keep the list short. Fewer things to Track, fewer things to remember when it's time to send the message, fewer errors. Just my idea.

Just "unfollow" him...you'll still get the "track" updates.

Just to make it super clear.

You will get any and all notifications from a user that you follow, regardless of your keywords that you track.

So if you follow the user "antfreq" or "scansacramento" you will get any and all updates, even if they are not notification or part of your keyword list.

So if you don't care about what I have to say outside of the scanner world, don't track "antfreq's" twitter profile. Same with scansacramento, if you don't want every notification or post, then don't "follow". Even if you don't "follow" a profile/user you will still get posts that hit on your keywords. If you don't care and want everything, then just "follow" that particular person.

enjoy

What do you guys think???

When I post an incident, such as the one from few minutes ago; " scansac subject with knife. stabbing at officers. SPD ch1 "

Should I post the up-date(s) when they become available??
For example when they got the subject from above in custody, I posted an update saying; " scansac subject with knife detained. SPD ch1 "

Let me know what the consensus is...

I think it should be just the original alert.

Maybe if a pursuit turns into an officer-involved shooting or something than an update or an additional "major" update or something.

I don't understand why, but I never got your update. It doesn't show up on my Twitter page. Are your posts set to public?

Does anyone know if text message updating needs to be on for "track" updates?

OK! I'll just update if it's a major update. Thanks for the input!
