Safe Patrol

I was wondering if anyone knows what freq. that the KY Safe Patrol is operating on. I was in Montgomery County and heard one of the units on 151.085 which is one of the Highway Department freqs, but he was talking to possibly someone in Frankfort. Any info?

You'll hear them on the "local" freq for the KDOT District they are in, you'll also hear them on the MVE freq....

SAFE Patrol

Safe Patrol is short for Safety Assistance for Freeway Emergencies.

http://highwaysafety.ky.gov/safe_patrol.asp is the website for the SAFE Patrol. They currently use the highway district freq's. They are not using KVE's at this time.

How are the units identifying themselves on the radio? Callsigns/etc...

Ive heard them on both 453.300 and 151.085 which is one of the local hwy freqs. They are assigned a unit number, I heard one earlier in the 1100's. Most units will giver their location by mile marker and county number and also giving the license plate of the vehicle to their dispatcher.

They are using the highway Freq, and there radio numbers are in the 1700's.

Are they still on the state highway freqs ? If so I am in Laurel County would they be using 151.055 MHZ ?

I don't know about the rest of the state, but in Jefferson County they have their own MetroSafe talkgroup. It is the TRIMARC one.

I receive them on 151.085 with a tone of DPL 032, and the unit numbers I hear are in the 1700 range calling T.O.C. with the info.
