The Zone 2 Zone Controller site should actually be up and testing. ISP D52 is the Zone 1 Controller.

The new Zone 2 Controller / Core is in Bloomington, right? So the Zone 2 controller should be up and testing on RF?

I haven't heard a P25 control channel on 858.4875 MHz from my home in Bloomington. I've been checking regularly. What I do hear on that frequency is voice traffic from the current SAFE-T Type II system, which is what I would expect until they make the switch.

Is there somewhere else I should be looking for the Bloomington P25 control channel? Once I hear it I can run Unitrunker and get some data.

Thanks!

Kevin

Search for any P25 CC in the 800 MHz band. then run Pro96Com, UT, T-88, DSD etc on it and see what the SysID, WACN etc turn up as. The actual Bloomington site would not show up yet until after the ZC has been tested, and the initial linking of sites etc is done. Southeastern phase should be close to initial testing though.

Thanks for this very informative thread. I guess this is what happens when you live "this close" to Illinois and Chicagoland; I had no idea Indiana was working on a new P25 system.

Guess I need to start paying more attention to the state I now live in instead of the state I used to live in.

:)

LOL, your neck of the woods upgrade to P25 is still a ways off. It's starting in the Southeast corner, and working up. I wouldn't expect to see anything really happening in Zone 1 until maybe fall?

Motorola and IPSC testing power settings, and checking radio programming settings. Expect fluctuation of range of this system over next week, as they bring the Zone 1 controller to full output during testing, then drop it back to 20 %. Radio programming proceeding on schedule per talk overheard. One tech was able to briefly get into the repeater from Mooresville. One tech is hitting it on an HT from Greenwood area tonight, just barely, but is getting in.

Tech also reported loud and clear from Martinsville. So for mobiles, coverage is actually quite good, and not too shabby thus far for HT's.

New p25 thread question

I have a bcd996t scanner and it is on the mot type ii covering hoosier safe-t. I have noticed the frequencies on the towers so far have been the same and my scanner when it is programmed says mot type ii and p25, will i still be able to get the radio traffic the way my scanner is set up or will i have to change the settings? Also, it seems like i get a lot of Data noise on my scanner and I have changed the setting on my scanner that I don't want it to read data, but it still comes across. What can I do to get rid of that? Thank you in advance for the answers.

You will need to set up the P25 Upgrade as an separate Tsys object in the scanner. It will be pure P25. The current system is Motorola Type II using both analog and P25 TG's. As far as the data noise you speak of, I am not sure if your talking about encrypted TG's.. Or possibly getting new CC's without meaning too.

They are channels I get traffic on in scanner and they are not encrypted. Sometimes when they connect to that channel they make the noise and then you hear them talking just fine. You say they need set up in scanner as a seperate system but it shows a P25 standard and P25 one frequency trunk as my options, they say they are for the XT only.

SAFE-T P25 would be P25 Standard. The current system is Mot II.

The current "old" system is Motorola Type II trunking with P25 digital voice encoding (I didn't say "encryption", I said "encoding"). Therefore, if you are monitoring the current system, your scanner needs to be programmed for Motorola Type II.

The new system which is being slowly rolled out uses P25 trunking and P25 voice. To monitor the new system, your scanner needs to be programmed for P25.

The new system roll-out is starting in the southeastern part of the state. It will be several months before towers in the northern part of the state, such as Wabash, will be converted to the new system.

ISP D-52 Troopers having radios reprogrammed. So progress is happening. Guys down in Z-2, start looking for the new system to be coming alive,... At least the Zone Controller and South East phase sites.
