Question to anyone in the Salt Lake City Valley;

Does anyone program more than the 003 (3) Site for Utah Communications Authority Site: Salt Lake County Simulcast

Is there a technique to programming sites? I’m in Park City and I’ve programmed every site in Summit, Wasatch, and Morgan Counties. When scanning UCA my HomePatrol shows full bars then flashes 2 bars a couple times, but every time there’s traffic it’s 2 bars and staticky. Part of it is where I live, driving around town there’s other areas with perfect reception.

I wanted to revive this thread with another question. When I put my lat/long into my HP2 and scan the full database I get great reception. But when I switch my favorites list that has the same TG’s I hear either nothing or very weak/static. The favorites list has multiple sites programmed and I don’t think I’m missing any that would cover where I am. Should I cut down on the number of sites I have programmed and just put in the one site closest to where I am? I’m in the Pinebrook area of Park City, so I’m guessing Wasatch simulcast?

Thanks! When listening to UCA on the full database, I am getting traffic loud and clear from Wasatch County, so I guess that’s a clue that my best repeater is the Wasatch simulcast.

If u have an Hp2, Wasatch simo will be distorted because its simulcast. An sds model will clear up the distortion

I have all sites from Wendover to Evanston programmed into one bank.
Except I left out Salt Lake Simul.
So as I travel along I-80, one site fades out and the scanner locks onto the next site.
Example: Wendover, Delle, Nelson, Parleys, Summit, and so on.
there are other sites in Summit County, but I can't remember all of them.
TGRPs for Sheriff, Police, Fire & EMS. Also all Regional & Event

The GPS option is the best/easiest option to handle that.

But.. the other option would be to program the counties you are traveling thru. Pick and choose what exactly you are wanting to listen to.

Thanks - the GPS is the best option, is this something i have to buy as an external gps receiver or is this internal into the SDS100? If i have to purchase something any recommendations? Thanks.

Also while in Wendover i want to scan aircraft at Wendover airport. sometimes the military comes in with C-130's and C-17's and our window could view them, now i want to listen to them.

looks like there is the Uniden OEM GPS kit specifically for the SDS100 but will have extra parts for other products. which version for plug and play the easiest? Thanks.

Thanks for the info. Ordered GPS and should arrive next week. Will play with it then.
Just to close this comment: GPS ordered and received and used on I-80 from Park City thru Salt Lake City UT to Wendover NV for a weekend getaway. Worked as described. A bonus was, now that I was in Wendover, the GPS already determined my location for local searches, mostly hotel staff.
Thanks for the info.
