I just tried to program San Diego County Imperial County Trunk system and it would not work in my Bearcat 998t. I tried APCO 25, and 800 Splinter. I tried programming the North Loop only, anyone know what I should put in the scanner? Standard 800, Splinter 800, APCO 25. I tried 2 of the 3 and neither one locks onto the control.

The system type is Moto Type 2 and the site type is 800MHz Splinter.

I programmed the system all over again with Motorola Type II/p25 800 Mhz splinter and it still doesn't lock on to the control channel. Seems I am missing something. I show about a 60 percent signal. Perplexed!

If you are in fact in Rosamond, I'm surprised you are getting any signal to monitor.

Unless you are in the service area, you generally will have difficulty getting a lock.

What happens when you put in the CC frequency manually? Press hold,, 863.15, hold.

If you are in the only Rosamond CA that I see, by Lancaster in LA County, It is not likely that you will get the San Diego RCS. Some of the San Diego system frequencies are used by San Bernardino systems also, and this might be causing confusion. Also, to listen to the Imperial County part of the system, you need to use those site frequencies, not the North Loop. Imperial County traffic will only be on the "Inter-Couny Loop".

He said he was in Vista at the time.

it never locked on. Do I need to update firmware? Who knows?

So you never heard any signal on 863.15 after using the [HOLD] button method? You should have at least heard control channel data. Make sure your squelch knob is turned all the way down (until you can hear static).

Also, I've never heard of a "Bearcat 998t." Did you mean a BC996XT? Or perhaps a BCD996T?

What does "locked on" mean? That term doesn't tell me anything. Please describe what happens when you manually enter 863.150.

Are you attempting to use control channel only, and not programming any talkgroups in it

If you are scanning the RCS north frequencies, and the radio is within range, when you press the HOLD button, the scanner should lock on and open the receiver and you will hear the control channel. If while in scan you push hold and do not hear the control channel, then you either entered the wrong frequencies, or you are not in range of the system. If you are out of range, when in scan the display should say finding control channel.
